Canary Islands cruises

Off the tourist trail, the smaller island of La Gomera feels delightfully unspoilt, and the cruise port of San Sebastian is a great base to explore. The main treasure of the island is its dense, intense green laurel forests seen in Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This compact city is located along the shore and offers impressively dark skies with hardly any light pollution, making it one of the best places to stargaze in Europe. Even the city centre has sweeping views with a history tracing back to the 15th century.

Arrecife, once a small fishing village, became the capital of Lanzarote in the 19th century. In the heart of the city is a natural inland lagoon surrounded with petite market stalls and painted inshore fishing boats. You can visit the Mediterranean-style promenade and uncover historical charm in the museums, castles and art galleries.

Rosario is a lively port and the capital of Fuerteventura with some impressive street art, including colourful murals and giant snail sculptures along the harbour promenade. In the corner of the island is Playa Chica, a wind-sheltered beaches with calm waters and wooden walkways.

Santa Cruz has an animated city centre with flora fuelled botanical gardens, historical museums and antique-selling vintage markets. As well as this bustling metropolis, there are sandy beaches surrounded by palm trees and dramatic hillsides- making for an impressive landscape.

Often described as the ‘floating garden in the Atlantic’, Madeira is a welcome port of call on all our Canary Island cruises. From Funchal, you can explore the island’s beautiful botanical gardens or levada walking trails.

While the Canaries have a Spanish flavour, some cruises also make a stop on the mainland, to explore fascinating places such as Cartagena, Cadiz and Barcelona.
