Discovering the Canaries in style

The Canary Islands are blessed with some truly spectacular locations, from the peak of Mount Teide on Tenerife to the endless sand dunes of Maspalomas on Gran Canaria and the volcanic Timanfaya on Lanzarote. A cruise is a great way to explore all of these sights and more in one exciting holiday. And with warm weather all year round, they’re a great choice to sail south for some ‘winter sun’.

The highlights of Tenerife

Santa Cruz, Tenerife

The capital city of Tenerife, Santa Cruz, is the ideal place to begin an exploration of the island’s top sights. A walk along the Orotava Valley is an ideal way to revel in both historical architecture and nature’s beauty, while the historic Casa Abaco at the end of the trail affords a splendid 18th century setting for your aperitif.

Meanwhile, Tenerife’s floral attractions should never be underestimated. Santa Cruz’s Jardin Botanico has been delighting visitors since the 18th century, while the Orchid Gardens of Sitio Litre are a tranquil spot to reflect and unwind.

Gran Canaria’s top sights

Bandama Crater, Gran Canaria

Although Lanzarote may be best known for its volcanic origins, in fact one of the best places to discover the Canary Islands’ volcanic heritage is on Gran Canaria, with a trip to the Bandama Crater. You can hike right into the heart of the crater of one of the Canarian archipelago’s youngest volcanoes and admire stunning panoramic island views. There’s much more to explore on Gran Canaria too. The colourful and pretty town of Teror is a must-visit while the Duchess Gardens is the perfect spot to stroll amidst sub-tropical plants and tropical flowers from all over the world.

Discover the volcanic treasures of Lanzarote

Fire Mountain, Lanzarote

The Canarian island of Lanzarote offers a truly unique experience to its visitors. The Timanfaya National Park, sometimes called Fire Mountain, affords the opportunity to have a barbecue with a difference, cooked over the volcano’s heat. Meanwhile, Los Hervideros and its boiling waters gives its visitors a very different experience as they explore a series of blow holes and caves that have been eroded from the flow of lava.
