One of Europe’s most important rivers, the Rhine flows through a fairy-tale world of ancient hilltop castles, chequered vineyards and densely wooded hills. The Middle Rhine Gorge is particularly scenic and is dotted with a host of traditional towns and cities such as Koblenz, Boppard and Rüdesheim.
