Take an introductory drive around Casablanca, with a photo stop outside the Hassan II Mosque overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Depart the pier and head towards the Hassan II Mosque a striking landmark – considered a masterpiece of contemporary Arab-Muslim architecture. The construction of the Mosque was a project initiated by the Moroccan ruler King Hassan II. A photo stop will be made here to marvel at the exterior, built at the water’s edge.

Afterwards, continue your panoramic drive around the city passing by the Notre Dame de Lourdes, a modernist Roman Catholic church built in the 1950’s by architect Achille Dangleterre. The drive continues to the resort area of Ain Diab, a stretch of coastline known as La Corniche. Here, you will make a short refreshment stop to sample some Moroccan mint tea.

Your tour concludes with a photo stop at Mohammad V Square before returning to the ship.

Please note: This is a coach-based excursion with most of the sightseeing taking place from your vehicle. Take an introductory drive with a photo stop at Cap Spartel, a visit to St Andrew’s Church, and an opportunity to sip Moroccan tea.

Leave the pier and travel along the Corniche towards Cap Spartel. This promontory is located at the northernmost point of the African continent and features a lighthouse first lit in 1860 – still overwatching ships passing Tangier’s coast.

Pause here for a short photo stop, then head back towards Tangier to visit Saint Andrew’s church. This Anglican landmark was built on land gifted to Queen Victoria by Sultan Moulay Hassan I in 1883. Blending Moorish and English architecture, its interior is decorated with Arabic script and other biblical texts reflecting Tangier’s multicultural past.

Next, stop at Villa de France, a historic hotel once frequented by artists such as Henri Matisse. Here you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea or a fresh orange juice. Afterwards, continue to Marshan Square, to see a different side of Tangier, before returning to your ship.

Discover Tangier’s Kasbah and Medina on this introductory walking tour. The Kasbah is one of the most iconic areas of Tangier, a historic fortified quarter perched above the city with sweeping views over the surrounding coastline.

A short coach transfer will bring you to the entrance of the Kasbah, from here you will head on foot with your guide. Your walk will take you uphill through the narrow streets of the Kasbah to see the old part of the city. As you descend back downhill, you will see the Grand Socco, a historic roundabout square linking the old medina to the new part of the city.

Continue your walk into the bustling Medina. Then you will pause for a Moroccan tea and pastry at Palais Zahia Riad, before returning to your ship by coach.

Please note: Expect to walk at least one-and-a-quarter miles. You must be physically fit to participate as the walk through the Kasbah is strenuous and the route may change on the day. The terrain in the medina will be uneven with cobblestones and steep inclines. Throughout the walk there will be many, frequent steps to negotiate (20 to 25 steps at a time). There will be three steps at the refreshment venue. The coach transfer will take approximately 20 minutes each way.

Enjoy a snapshot tour of Lanzarote to see Teguise, Caleta Famara Beach and Aloe Vera Farm.

Travel from the pier inland to the historic town of Teguise, founded in the 15th century by the Conquistadores. Admire the beautifully restored houses and picturesque square during a short stop. Next, continue to Caleta Famara Beach, which Lanzarote artist César Manrique frequented as a child. A short photo stop will be made here.

Next, the drive takes you through the charming, typical Canarian villages of Soo, La Santa, Tinajo, Tiagua, and Mozaga. You will then pass through the La Geria wine region, famous for its unique, ash-covered landscape where grapevines are grown in volcanic hollows.

Your final stop is at an Aloe Vera Farm, where you will have approximately 30 minutes to learn about the island's celebrated Aloe Vera, which thrives in Lanzarote's volcanic soil and is used in numerous ways. After your farm visit, you will return directly to the ship.

Explore Puerto Del Carmen at your own pace.

Travel south to Puerto del Carmen, a popular seaside town. You will have approximately four hours of free time to explore at leisure; perhaps take the opportunity to settle down in one of the cafes on the seafront promenade or perhaps browse the shops for souvenirs.

After your visit, meet at the designated meeting point for your return transfer to the port.

Please note: This is a transfer to Puerto Del Carmen and is unguided. An escort will accompany you on the coach journey only, with no commentary. You will have approximately four hours of free time to explore independently. Walking is at your discretion, but this excursion has been graded as strenuous based on a good exploration and time spent in of Puerto Del Carmen. Visit the resort town of Corralejo with time to explore independently at leisure. Located at the northern tip of Fuerteventura, Corralejo is a lively resort town known for its relaxed atmosphere and picturesque harbour.

Departing from the pier, a 30-minute transfer will bring you to Corralejo where you will have free time to explore at your own pace. Perhaps settle down in one of the town's bars or cafes or take a stroll through the original part of the town, centred around the old harbour with its authentic atmosphere.

At the designated meeting point and time, rejoin your escort for the return drive to the ship.

Please note: This is a transfer to Corralejo and is unguided. An escort will accompany you on the coach journey only, with no commentary. You will have approximately two hours of free time in Corralejo to explore independently. Walking is at your discretion, but this excursion has been graded based on a good exploration. The drop off/pick up location is Avenida de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Centro Comercial Las Palmeras). From the drop off, Playa De Corralejo Viejo is approximately 750 yards each way and Plaza Felix Estevez is approximately half a mile each way. It is your responsibility to be at the drop-off point for the return drive at the given time. The drive to and from Corralejo will take approximately 30 minutes each way.

Capture the highlights of Fuerteventura, including a visit to an Aloe Vera factory and the island’s former capital, Betancuria. Leaving the pier, travel by coach to the village of Tiscamanita for a visit to an Aloe Vera factory. Aloe Vera has long been one of the island’s most important crops, and here you will discover more about its many uses – with the opportunity to purchase local products if you wish.

Next, your journey continues to Betancuria, the island’s former capital. Founded in the early 15th century by Jean de Béthencourt, the town was strategically built in a valley to help protect it from pirate raids. Despite this precaution, it was attacked by pirates and destroyed in 1593. Whilst here, visit the small Archaeological Museum where you can learn more about the original inhabitants of Fuerteventura before rejoining your coach for the return drive back to the port.

Enjoy time at leisure in La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage town, before driving through northern Tenerife, pausing at Humboldt viewpoint for a short photo stop. Your tour begins with a drive through the main Santa Cruz avenue known as ‘Las Ramblas’, passing by the now disused bullring and Parque García Sanabria. Next, head towards La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage town, where you can spend time at leisure. You will have approximately 30 minutes here to explore the historic market in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, officially known as Mercado Municipal de La Laguna. Afterwards, reboard your coach and head north, pausing at the Humboldt viewpoint for a short photo stop before returning to the ship.

Discover Tenerife’s most striking natural feature, Mount Teide, without the exertion of a demanding hike. Your excursion begins with a drive to La Tarta viewpoint, where you will pause for a short photo stop. After passing through the photographic surroundings, journey south along the base of the mountain range, through pine forests and foothills to Teide National Park, declared a national park in 1954.

The park features an enormous volcanic crater measuring over 29 miles in circumference and within it is Mount Teide, rising to a height of 12,000 feet. It is the highest peak in Spanish territory and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The park is situated at an altitude of over one mile above sea level: in winter, snow and gale force winds often close roads through it; during the summer months, the arid landscape gives visitors the impression of having walked onto the set of a western movie and can reach temperatures of over 37°C. Stand in the shadows of the majestic Roques de García as you pause for a photo stop before returning to your ship in Santa Cruz. During the tour, a stop will be made for a tea or coffee.

Please note: Walking during this excursion is at your discretion but you should expect to walk at least 500 yards over some uneven surfaces, and there may be a considerable amount of standing. We recommend that you take an extra layer of clothing as temperatures towards the top of the mountain may be considerably colder than at sea level. Take in the highlights and views of La Palma on a scenic drive around the island.

Beginning from the pier in Santa Cruz de la Palma, your drive takes you firstly to the Mirador de la Concepcion, stopping for photos at this viewpoint before continuing to the Caldera de Taburiente. After pausing at the visitor centre, continue by coach to Mirador de La Cumbrecita, where you will stop for photos at the look out. The drive then continues to the western part of La Palma through Los Llanos de Aridane. Enjoy vistas of Los Llanos, surrounded by cacti and banana plantations, before returning to your ship via the town of El Paso.

This included excursion takes you on a leisurely sightseeing drive, with three short photo stops. Leave the port, passing Santa Catarina Park, and travel west towards the Santa Rita area, before arriving at your first photo stop offering a view of Funchal. Your drive continues to your second photo stop at Pico dos Barcelos. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the coastline, surrounding hills and the city.

Next, drive southwest, passing Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village, once painted by Sir Winston Churchill. Pause for a short photo at Pico da Torre viewpoint, which offers a view of the bay and the fishermen’s village below. Having seen Funchal and its surroundings from three viewpoints, you head back to your ship.

After a short coach transfer, you will arrive at the Botanical Gardens nestled in the verdant hills overlooking Madeira’s capital. Once the grounds of a private estate, these gardens are now one of the island’s most celebrated attractions, renowned for their beauty and diversity.

Spread across five hectares, they showcase more than 2000 species of plants from every continent – some endangered in their native habitats – alongside a wealth of Madeira’s own flora. You will have time to explore independently, to wander at your own pace and take in the fragrance of blossoming flowers and the vibrant palette of greens, reds, yellows, and purples. Each step unveils new wonders, including viewpoints that offer sweeping vistas of Funchal and the island’s coastline.

Go inside the Hassan II Mosque, take a drive around the city and visit the Habous Quarter.

This tour begins with a drive to Hassan II Mosque, allowing you to visit inside the second-largest mosque in the world. Built at the sea's edge, the vast mosque can accommodate 25,000 worshippers inside and another 80,000 worshippers outside on the esplanade.

Afterwards, your tour continues with a drive around the city, passing the Notre Dame de Lourdes on the way to the New Medina, the Habous Quarter, where you will enjoy some time at leisure. Afterwards, reboard your coach and drive along the Corniche – the Atlantic seaside resort of Casablanca Boulevard that is lined with hotels and restaurants. Here, there will be a short refreshment stop to sample some mint tea.

Head to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. See the exterior of Mausoleum Mohamed, visit Kasbah Oudayas and enjoy a Moroccan lunch.

Sitting on the Atlantic coastal plain, Rabat is the capital of Morocco. Here you will find a modern city with wide boulevards, gardens and white façades: a far cry from the hectic imperial cities of Marrakech and Fes, but no less steeped in history.

Your first stop is outside the Royal Palace, official residence of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, erected in 1864. Capture its grand exterior before driving to the Mausoleum Mohammed V, overlooked by Hassan Tower, a grand 12th-century project to create the tallest minaret in the world, abandoned after the ruler Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur’s death in 1199. The mausoleum was built to honour Mohammed V, the ruler who led Morocco to independence.

You will then head to a local restaurant for Moroccan lunch. Afterwards, you will drive to Oudayas Kasbah. It is here where Rabat’s early history is echoed in the winding blue streets. If time allows, wander down to the Andalusian gardens, laid out by the French during the colonial period and boasting views across the Bou Regreg River, before the return drive to the ship.

Departing the pier, you first drive to the Hassan II Mosque for a photo stop of the exterior before continuing to the Central Market. A short stroll through this hub of colour and local activity will reveal a variety of fish, spices and unique African products – the market certainly provides an authentic local experience.

Head next to Umayya, a renowned restaurant where you will be greeted with Moroccan tea, followed by an informative short cooking demonstration to learn the methods used in the creation of a variety of Moroccan entrees and desserts.

Afterwards, a traditional Moroccan lunch will be served before returning to the ship.

Take in the sights of Casablanca and visit Rick’s Cafe’ – a recreation of the bar that featured in the 1942 Hollywood film 'Casablanca'.

With its French and Hollywood connections, Casablanca is more than just the largest port in North West Africa. By 1907, the city was occupied by the French who went on to establish a Protectorate in 1912. Their legacy can be seen in the buildings and design of the city which you will see as you visit some of its highlights.

Your first destination will be a photo stop at the Mohammed V Square in the heart of city. Built in the 1920s, admire this elegant space and its civic buildings, before continuing, passing the 20th-century church of Notre Dame de Lourdes. Next, stroll through the New Medina, Habbous Quarter, with its intriguing alleyways and shops, visit the esplanade of the Royal Palace, and spot the parliamentary building of the Mahkama of the Pacha. No tour is complete without viewing the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993 and one of the largest in the world.

Your tour concludes with a visit to 'Rick’s Cafe' – a recreation of the bar that featured in the 1942 Hollywood film 'Casablanca' starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Much of the action reflected the time, with some of the main scenes taking place in the bar. Step back to 1942 as you sip a complimentary drink and imagine Bogart uttering the now legendary words as he sees Ingrid Bergman... "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine".

There are 5 steps to enter Ricks Café, due to the layout inside the venue there are further frequent steps to negotiate during your visit including 15 steps up and down. There is a strict dress code at Rick’s Cafe, with certain items not permitted, such as shorts, tank tops, tops with a low neckline, t-shirts with logos, ‘cargo pants’, sports shoes and backpacks. When visiting a religious site please ensure knees and shoulders are covered. Rick’s Cafe is a popular venue which will be busy, the visit is not exclusive to Saga guests. The Hassan II Mosque will only be viewed from the exterior. You will spend approximately 40 minutes in the Habbous Quarter and one hour at Ricks Café.

Embark on a journey to the enchanting Chefchaouen, a blue-washed city with a history of Spanish influence, located in the heart of the Rif Mountains.

After a drive from the pier to Chefchaouen, you will head off on foot to explore the 18th century Old Kasbah in the Medina, built by ruler Moulay Ismail. Whilst in the Medina, visit the ethnographic museum containing antique weapons, musical instruments and photographs of the old town.

Your guided walk through the narrow streets then continues to the cobbled main square Plaza Uta el-Hammam where you can enjoy some time at leisure. Perhaps soak up the local atmosphere, shop for local crafts or unwind in a nearby cafe.

Having explored Chefchaouen, you will then head to a local restaurant for a traditional Moroccan lunch before the drive back to your ship in Tangier.

Explore UNESCO-listed Tétouan with a stroll through the Medina and a visit to the Bab Akla School of Traditional Arts and Crafts.

Drive from the pier to Tétouan – standing on a rocky plateau detached from the southern flank of Mount Dersa. This city’s architecture reflects a unique blend of Arabic and Spanish styles, a testament to the town’s rich, bicultural ancestry.

On arrival, set off on foot to first visit the Bab Akla School of Traditional Arts and Crafts. Founded in 1919 under the direction of Hajj Abdeslam Bennouna, the school has produced some of Morocco’s best painters over the past half century and keeps alive traditional art forms in the modern world.

Your guided walk continues through the Medina which has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997. Pause outside the elegant Royal Palace at Place Hassan II Square, taking in its wide esplanade, Arab-Islamic architecture and ornate gate.

Your tour concludes with a stop at a local Riad to enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea and pastry. Afterwards, rejoin your coach for the return drive to your ship in Tangier.

Visit Asilah, a coastal town known for its charming blend of Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan architecture.

Departing from the pier, your first stop will be Cap Spartel, a dramatic promontory marking the northernmost point of the African continent. Pause here for a brief photo stop before your journey continues to Asilah.

Settled by the Phoenicians around 1500 BC, Asilah has been one of the most popular resort cities on Morocco’s Atlantic coast – featuring whitewashed buildings, narrow streets and murals.

On arrival, enjoy a guided walk through the narrow streets of the old town to learn about Asilah’s fascinating history. You will then pause to enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea and pastry before making your way back to your ship in Tangier.

The drive to and from Asilah will take approximately one-and-a-quarter hours each way. To use the restrooms in cafes you will be required to make a purchase.

Visit Cap Spartels lighthouse and stroll through the quaint Donabo Garden.

Journey from the pier along the Corniche to Cap Spartel. This promontory is located at the northernmost point of the African continent. The lighthouse was built in 1860 and you will have an opportunity to climb the spiral staircase to the top, to enjoy a 360-degree view of the surroundings.

Next, a short drive will bring you to Donabo Gardens, nestled just outside the city it opened in 2022 featuring a collection of small gardens, each with their own distinctive personality, purpose and scent – housed within the broader Donabo garden. Stroll around the landscaped paths before pausing for a Moroccan Tea.

As you return to Tangier you will have some time at leisure at the Place du 9 Avril 1947 (April 9 Square) also known as Grand Socco before returning to your ship.

Please note: Expect to walk at least 500 yards. To climb to the top of the Lighthouse there are 112 steps to negotiate (224 in total, up and down) on a spiral staircase which gets narrower towards the top, therefore we have graded this excursion Strenuous. You will spend approximately 40 minutes at the lighthouse, one-and-a-quarter hours at Donabo Garden and 30 minutes at April 9 Square. Depending on the time of year, different flowers may be in bloom. Any further walking during free time is at your discretion.

Visit the Mirador del Rio viewpoint and Jameos del Agua underground cavern – both of which showcase César Manrique’s architectural talent.

The tour begins with a coach transfer to the north of Lanzarote to visit the Jameos del Agua Cave. César Manrique turned what was once a water hole in the earth’s surface into an inspiring volcanic cavern and exotic subterranean water garden, Jameos del Agua.

On arrival, you descend into the cavern via a winding staircase leading down to the underground, natural lake. This underground lake is slightly illuminated by the sun and is home to the blind albino crab, which are unique to Lanzarote.

After your visit inside the cavern, you walk along the volcanic path to the surface where you can see the crystal blue waters of the swimming pool, a backdrop for many visitor’s photos. Reboard your coach and head to Mirador del Rio viewpoint, located 500 metres above a cliff. This is one of the most unique architectural creations by César Manrique where you can capture a panoramic view of Lanzarote and the Chinijo Archipelago.

Before returning to Arrecife, enjoy a visit to an Aloe Vera Farm, tucked away in the village of Orzola.

Lanzarote has a fascinating history, one of its most notable events being the eruptions of the 1730s, when the volcanoes in the Timanfaya area erupted for six years and covered nearly a third of the island with lava. This volcanic landscape is revealed in Timanfaya National Park, also known as ‘Fire Mountain’, which will be your first destination after driving through the whitewashed villages of Puerto del Carmen, Macher and Yaiza.

Once at the national park, begin a tour of the craters and lava beds in this lunar-like terrain. Your guide will perform demonstrations to show the latent power of the volcano.

Afterwards travel through the Salt Planes to La Geria, where vineyards dot the landscape. Here, the vines are protected by semi-circular stonewalls, making them look more like art than agriculture. This excursion begins with a transfer to Peñas del Chache, the highest point of the island, where your trek begins. Continue down the path, through rich and varied vegetation, into the Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees.

Here you will discover another impressive viewpoint as you walk through the greenest part of Lanzarote. Reaching the charming village of Haria, reboard your coach and travel to the the Green Caves. These are lava tubes formed by the eruption of the La Corona volcano over 3,000 years ago. Your guide will tell you how they were created and how they were used as a refuge by the island’s inhabitants when escaping in the past from invaders or pirates. Visit a traditional farmhouse, the Majorero Cheese Museum and an Aloe Vera Factory.

This tour takes you on a scenic drive to La Gayria, a traditional farmhouse and vineyard. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the grounds and restored guest rooms. Wine and olive oil are produced on the farm, which is also home to several animals. Visit the wine cellar and see how the wine is produced, followed by a tasting of the locally produced tapas including tomatoes, olive oil, Fuerteventura sea salt and freshly baked bread, accompanied by a sample of the farms own wine.

Lace up your walking boots and set off on a trek around the Volcán de la Arena.

Around 5,000 years ago, the area of Monte Arena was formed by eruptions from three different points, which left an impressive volcano and three craters. This is the area where the Majos, the island’s indigenous people chose to live. Today, the volcano and badlands are a protected natural monument. This tour starts with a drive to the village of Villaverde, the starting point for your trek. Enjoy a walk around the volcano and along the way discover ancient stone walls, rock formations, flora and fauna, and capture a panoramic view of northern Fuerteventura. 

After your walk, the tour continues by bus to the fishing village of El Cotillo, where you will have some time at leisure to explore or relax before returning to the port.

Seek out whales and dolphins in their natural habitat in the waters of southern Tenerife on board a catamaran.

Leaving the pier, travel one-hour by coach to the harbour of Puerto Colon in Playa des Las Americas. On arrival, board one of the catamarans (not exclusive to Saga guests) in search of whales and dolphins. Pilot and sperm whales lurk in the waters around the island of Tenerife all year round and you may also see dolphins or other species of whales if you are lucky. During the catamaran trip, drinks will be served and you will have some free time to swim if you wish or sunbathe on the Catamarans netting.

After spending approximately three hours on the catamaran you return to the ship by coach.

Please note: The boat used during this excursion is not exclusive to Saga guests and this tour is un-guided. Minimal walking is required but there are approximately eight steps to negotiate when getting on and off the catamaran, which you need to be able to do unaided. You must be a confident swimmer if you wish to go in the water.

All activities in the water are undertaken at your own risk. There are toilet facilities on board the boat and steps are required to access them. Enjoy a cable car ride to the summit of Mount Teide for an aerial view of Cañadas del Teide National Park.

Setting off from Santa Cruz your drive will take you through the Esperanza Forest and on to the National Park. On reaching the cable car station at approximately 7700 feet above sea level, a short stop will be made to admire the view before boarding the cable car. Be sure to have your camera close to hand during this eight-minute ride to the mountain’s 12,198-foot summit.

You have free time here to take in the vista of sprawling mountains punctuated by rugged petrified rock. Then, return to the lower station to rejoin your coach for a scenic drive that takes in more of this unique island’s countryside, before finally arriving back at the port.

Please note: There is approximately three-quarters-of-a-mile of walking during this excursion. Some over uneven surfaces and inclines. There are 25 steps to access the cable car. The abundant colour and sheer variety of plants, flowers and vegetation that thrive in the Canary Islands is the focus on this excursion.

First, take a drive along the island’s main highway to Puerto de la Cruz, an old colonial town on the north coast. The first garden you visit is the Jardin Botanico, founded by a Royal decree of King Charles III of Spain in 1788. He wanted to create a nursery where plants, shrubs and flowers, brought by the Conquistadors from the New World, could acclimatise to Spanish soil. Many of the plants here are the original specimens, delivered shortly after the opening of the garden. The centrepiece is a huge South American fig tree whose branches and roots have created an outlandish treehouse.

Next, a short drive brings you to the Orchid Gardens of Sitio Litre, which have welcomed many distinguished visitors including the famous crime writer Agatha Christie. These tranquil gardens are bursting with colour and have the largest collection of orchids in the Canary Islands. Here, enjoy tea or coffee with pastries and perhaps browse the shop.

Afterwards, enjoy some free time to explore Puerto de la Cruz at your leisure before the return drive to Santa Cruz.

Explore the Pyramids of Güímar, a complex of six terraced structures made from lava stones, before visiting the Basilica de Candelaria.

Leave the pier and head to the Pyramids of Güímar. The Ethnographic Park was founded in 1998 by the renowned Norwegian researcher Thor Heyerdahl. The site features a complex of six terraced, rectangular structures constructed from lava stones without mortar, which resemble step pyramids.

You will tour this ancient site before heading to Candelaria to visit the Basilica de Candelaria, the first Marian Shrine of the Canary Islands. Built in the Moorish-influenced Mudejar style, the basilica is home to the Virgin of Candelaria, declared the island's patron saint in 1599.

Visit the orchid gardens of Sitio Litre, see the ancient Dragon Tree, and the extensive collection of orchids before enjoying a refreshment.

Set off on a scenic drive through north Tenerife towards the Orchid Gardens. En route, you will pass through Oratava Valley, pausing for photographs at the Humboldt Viewpoint. Have your camera ready to capture the view here, which stretches from Mount Tiede to the coast of Puerto de la Cruz. The viewpoint is named after the explorer and naturalist Alexander Humboldt, who visited the island in 1799. He also visited the garden that previously stood on the site of what is now the Orchid Gardens, established in 1774 and the oldest on the island.

On arrival at the gardens, you will be welcomed by one of the owners who will act as your guide. In their company, explore the garden with its water feature, Dragon Tree, believed to be over 400 years old, and of course the collection of orchids, housed and displayed in a curving walkway. Past visitors to the garden include the author Agatha Christie and the prolific and celebrated Victorian botanical artist, Marianne North.

After your garden visit, take time to relax in the Orchid Gardens’ cafe as you enjoy some refreshments before returning to your ship.

Enjoy a boat ride along the coast of Tazacorte in search of whales, dolphins and other marine life.

Leaving the pier, journey west for the one-hour drive across the island to the small fishing village of Tazacorte. Here, you will embark the boat set off in search of marine life. A number of different whale species, including pilot whales, and several species of dolphins can be spotted off the coast of La Palma.

The boat’s crew will be on hand to provide information on the marine environment and its inhabitants, and to answer any questions about the wildlife and the surrounding area. You may also have the opportunity to see the newly formed lava delta after the La Palma Volcano Tajogaite erupted in 2021. Following the boat trip tour you will have approximately one hour of free time in the port area of Tazacorte before returning to your ship in Santa Cruz.

Head off the beaten track in a 4x4 bus to explore the island's volcanic vistas, shaped by volcanic activity over the past century.

Board your 4x4 bus at the pier and head towards the hills of Las Breñas, crossing thick vegetation and looking over Cumbre Nueva, the island’s main mountain range. Continue into the mountains, across the National Park and on towards the Refugio del Pilar, until you reach the Mirador del Jable viewpoint. From this natural balcony enjoy a panoramic view of the Aridane Valley, the Caldera del Taburiente and the Cumbre Nueva hills.

Reboard your bus, to continue your adventure through volcanic scenery and along off-road tracks, pausing at the San Juan volcanic area, where you will be able to see a flowing lava river before crossing a large area of Canary Island pine. Pause to tuck into some traditional Canarian snacks before driving to the town of Fuencaliente. You will stop here to see the San Antonio volcano and the Teneguia volcano.

After admiring the view at approximately 633 metres above sea level, return to the ship by road.

Explore the north of La Palma, admire the scenery and sample Rum.

From the pier, travel by coach north to the viewpoint ‘Mirador de La Galga’, perched on the edge of two deep-cut gorges, pause here to take in the view. Next, continue driving to the evergreen forest of Los Tilos, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and home to colourful indigenous flora.

Next, your drive passes through the little town of Los Sauces, and then onwards to the coast passing Charco Azul as you make your way to the little, charming village of San Andrés, built around a whitewashed church and criss-crossed by cobbled streets. After visiting the village, head to the Tendal Museum (Parque Arqueológico El Tendal) where you can learn about the inhabitants of the island.

The final visit on the tour is to the Rum Factory ‘Ron de La Aldea’, which has been producing rum since 1969, while here you can enjoy a taste of the local tipple before heading back to your ship having explored the north of the island.

Your drive takes you through vineyards, passing pine trees and quaint little villages as you journey towards the south of the island. Arriving at Fuencaliente, you will visit the San Antonio Volcano, where you can explore the visitor centre and get closer to the crater – conditions permitting, you can walk around the rim of the crater.

Next, you will visit a typical bodega, where you can sample local red and white wine before continuing to your final stop, ‘Julio’s House’ a cigar-making museum, where you can see how cigars are made by hand. La Palma is famous for these cigars, which are exported all over the world.

Afterwards, return to your ship in La Palma.

Visit the El Paso Silk Museum and the restored 17th-century sugar estate, Hotel Hacienda de Abajo.

Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you travel along mountain roads, passing vineyards and banana plantations en route to El Paso. On arrival, a short stroll takes you to the small silk museum where you can witness silk being weaved by a 500-year-old process – the only place in Europe where this method is still used.

Afterwards, you visit a restored 17th-century sugar estate, now the boutique Hotel Hacienda de Abajo. Surrounded by rich vegetation and botanical gardens, this historic manor house exhibits a collection of art, including sculptures, paintings, furniture, porcelain, and tapestries. On arrival your guide will take you on a tour of the main rooms.

Afterwards, as you make the return journey to Santa Cruz, a short photo-stop will be made at La Glorieta Square, allowing you to admire the mosaics by local artist Luis Morera.

Walk through the laurel forest of Los Tilos and on to the village San Andres y Sauces as you admire the coastal view.

Venture through Los Tilos Forest, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve home to a profusion of ferns, trees and other indigenous species. The tour begins with a short panoramic drive into the hills to Mirador de la Concepcion, a vantage point with views over the city. From here, it is a 50-minute drive to Los Tilos, which translates as ‘laurel forest’. You then set out on a walk through this forest of ancient laurels, lime trees and giant ferns. During your trek, your knowledgeable guide will identify specimens and explain points of interest along the way.

Emerging from Los Tilos, continue your walk along a stretch of coast near San Andres before returning to your ship by coach.

Go in search of the whales and dolphins in the sea surrounding Madeira, accompanied by a marine biologist and skipper.

After a short transfer to the marina, there will be a briefing before your adventure begins; then set off on your RIB, fully equipped for observing a variety of marine life. Thanks to lookouts on land who will guide your boat towards the mammals, which may include Short-finned Pilot Whales, Bottlenose Dolphins, Atlantic Spotted Dolphins and Common Dolphins that often leap from the water displaying their acrobatic moves as they swim alongside the boats.

If you are lucky, you may also spot a Risso’s Dolphin, a Beaked Whale or an Orca, all of which are occasional visitors to Madeira.

Leaving the port, you travel off road through mountains, across small rivers and along valleys capturing scenic views of the island. The route the jeeps take is subject to weather conditions across the island, and your driver will give you a detailed itinerary on the day. Throughout this tour, you will have ample opportunities to discover and learn about the island’s native flora and fauna, including the Laurissilva forest.

Towards the end of the drive you will pause and enjoy a refreshment before returning to your ship.

Leave the pier and journey to the belvedere of Pico dos Barcelos, which offers a sweeping panorama. Continue to the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, which was once painted by Sir Winston Churchill. Known for its quaint, red-roofed houses and brightly painted fishing boats, its name translates to ‘The Sea Wolves’ Lair’. To reach Cabo Girão, your coach takes you through pine woods and eucalyptus forests. Cabo Girão is said to be the second-highest sea cliff in Europe: it rises right out of the sea, and the viewpoint where you stop for photos offers coastal views along Funchal, and out to the distant horizon. Your journey then takes you up into the mountains, passing the vineyards of Estreito de Câmara Lobos, one of the most important winegrowing areas on the island.

Arriving at the Adega da Quinta Restaurant, at Quinta do Estreito, you can enjoy more coastal views and sample local wine and Portuguese cheese before returning to the ship.

Please note: There is approximately 550 yards of essential walking, some over cobbled, steep and sloped ground (assuming you participate in walking at the photo stops). There are 10 essential steps to negotiate, at the Pico da Torre viewpoint there are a further 30 shallow steps however these are optional. Each viewpoint stop will last approximately 25-30 minutes. Follow the course of The Levadas and admire the mountain scenery and green farmland that cover Madeira.

Following a ‘Levada’ trail is one of the most enjoyable ways of exploring Madeira. These irrigation channels were created in the 19th century by the Portuguese settlers, who painstakingly carved them out of the rock by hand. Designed to carry fresh water from the north to the drier southern regions of the island, they helped to create many of the lush landscapes that can be seen today.

This guided walk will follow the course of The Levadas for approximately three-and-a-half miles, allowing you to admire the verdant plants, mountain views and Madeiran farmland. Your tour begins with a drive to Vale Paraiso, where you set off for your two-hour walk. The first half will be a gentle stroll over fairly level ground, rising to the Camacha area for its surrounding views. The second stretch will take you all the way to Rochão, where you rejoin the coach for the return journey to the port.

Leave Funchal and travel west to the Pico da Torre viewpoint from where you can see Câmara de Lobos and the surrounding landscape. Then, the drive continues to Cabo Girão, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Take in the view of the valley below from its glass-floored skywalk, and see Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley).

Next, the drive continues inland through the mountains to Eira do Serrado. Here, you can enjoy a tasting Bolo de Mel, a traditional Madeiran cake, and Poncha, a traditional Madeiran drink made with aguardente de cana (sugar cane rum), honey, and fruit juice. After admiring the scenic view at Eira do Serrado, head to Pico dos Barcelos. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view over Funchal, the coastline, and the surrounding hills.

Your excursion concludes with a scenic drive back to Funchal and your awaiting ship.
