You start the tour by heading towards the airfield runway to reach the British/Spanish Frontier. Proceed towards the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europa Point and the sight of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. Here, alight from your tour vehicle to take some photographs of the views of the busiest shipping lane in the world, the mingling of the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean and two continents. Then, head to the Rock of Gibraltar. Drive past Princess Caroline’s Battery to Winston Churchill Avenue for a short stop, the road crosses the runway of Gibraltar International Airport. Afterwards, head back to the ship.

The duration of this tour is dependent on traffic. Any type of wheelchairs, scooters or foldable walkers are not permitted on the buses. At Winston Churchill Avenue, if a plane is landing or taking off, the motorcoach will not be permitted to cross the runway, instead the coach will stop behind the gate.

This scenic tour starts by leaving the city behind to first enjoy striking panoramic views from the Mirador Sa Foradada, where you can enjoy a photo stop. Then you’ll head through pine forest landscapes, and almond and olive groves until you arrive in the Spanish village of Valldemossa. Finally, a drive up to Bellver Castle will give you the chance to photograph the sweeping views overlooking Palma and its glistening seafront. Before returning to your ship, you can also gain insight into the importance of its Gothic architectural style.

The distance from the coach parking to Valldemossa is 350 yards. If you choose to explore independently in Valldemossa, you will have approximately one hour at leisure. If you choose to join the guide for a 30-minute walking tour, expect to cover a distance of 1100 yards, additional walking during the 30 minutes of free time is at your discretion. The village does have some steep inclines and cobblestone streets.

This introductory tour begins with a panoramic drive around Livorno city centre to see the highlights.

Stop at the Cathedral Square, where you will alight the coach for a little time at leisure, or choose to follow your guide for a short introduction. Afterwards, reboard your coach, the tour continues with a drive to the southern part of the city, before reaching the seaside.

Since the end of the 15th century, the city of Cádiz has provided a gateway to the New World. Throughout this panoramic tour, you will be met by several sights including the cathedral, city walls, Genovese Park and Alameda de Apodaca. Stroll around the Alameda Gardens before capturing views of The Gibraltar Rock on a scenic cable car ride. This tour will also take you to delight in the collection of plants at Alameda Gardens, which are an important conservation project.

First, join your guide who will point out the various plants, sights and wildlife whilst also describing its rich history as you wander around the grounds. Gibraltar’s cable car is the territory’s only purpose-built tourist attraction, and you then have the chance to ride up to the very top of the Rock.

Enjoy free time to wander around the many terraces and capture the views of the city of Gibraltar to the west and the coastline of Africa to the south. After your tour, a shuttle service will take you straight back to the ship, or you may prefer to be dropped off in the Irish town pedestrian area to explore the many shops.

Alternatively, relax in a pub or cafe, before making your own way back to the ship.

There is approximately one mile of walking. This excursion operates by mini-bus, cable car and on foot. The ground at the gardens is generally paved with steps and some steep gradients. Please expect queues and crowds at the cable car and be aware that the cable car may not operate during harsh weather conditions which can also affect the views you will see. Passengers are reminded that Gibraltar’s apes may be encountered on this excursion and should not be touched or fed as they may bite. Dependent on the time of year when visiting the Alameda Gardens, different plants will be flowering.

Learn about Gibraltar's unique wartime history on this tour. Begin by travelling past the British/Spanish Land Frontier. Your first stop is Europa Point, site of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Britain, where you can savour dramatic views of the Atlantic merging with the Mediterranean.

Next you will be taken to the nature reserve, home of the Northern Defences Sector, where you might be able to catch a glimpse of Gibraltar’s most famous residents, the mischievous Barbary apes. This tour involves walking of up to approximately three-quarters-of-a-mile lasting around 45 minutes with a steep incline of 450 yards on the way out of the tunnels. There are some low ceilings in the tunnels.

Go in search of dolphins and other marine life on this aquatic-creature based boat trip. Gibraltar’s bay boasts three species of dolphin and seven species of whale, as well as sunfish, flying fish and turtles. After departing from your ship, take the short drive to the ‘Dolphin World’ pleasure cruiser.

Then, after setting off into the bay, learn about the history of this tiny colony, and you will be given an insight into the marine life of the bay with a running commentary from your guide.

After landing, return transport will be available back to the ship, or if there’s enough time, you can choose to walk into town for shopping and a little independent exploration.

We recommend that you take some warm clothing for the boat ride. This excursion involves up to 280 yards of walking to reach the vessel and a couple of steps to board the vessel unassisted. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and refreshments can be purchased on board if you wish. The boat is not exclusive to saga guests.

From the quayside, travel north towards Gibraltar’s unique airport runway to the border between this small British Overseas territory and Spain. Proceed along the outskirts of town, passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point.

After a panoramic tour, you will be dropped off in front of the Bristol Hotel in Main Street, where you will be greeted by the Distillery Manager who will walk you to the venue. The tour begins with a brief history of the Art of Distilling, plus an insight into gin production before a comprehensive timeline of gin’s chequered past. Enjoy a gin tasting experience, before returning to the port.

Depart Cartagena by coach for a journey through the foothills of the Sierra Carrascoy. Your destination is the city of Murcia, capital of the province of the same name. Settled by the Moors in the 9th century and conquered by the Christians in the 13th, this bustling city offers an array of architectural delights. Your first stop is the Monastery of the Virgin of Fuensanta, the Patroness of Murcia. From here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Murcian orchards. Continuing to the city, you stop to visit the cathedral in the main square. Next to the cathedral you can view the exterior of the Bishop’s Palace. From here you continue to another of Murcia’s historic buildings, the Royal Casino. Located in the city centre not far from the cathedral, the casino dates from 1847 and is in a mixture of different architectural styles, with interiors modelled on Roman and Moorish buildings. Declared a National Historic Building in 1983, it was completely refurbished between 2006 and 2009, when all the original decorative features were restored. Leaving the casino, you pass through the squares of Santo Domingo and Romea, and have some free time for a stroll on your own before returning by coach to Cartagena.

We recommend wearing flat walking shoes and to dress conservatively, with knees and shoulders covered when visiting religious sites. Discover the highlights of Cartagena, originally settled in 223 BC. The city has flourished under Roman, Muslim and Arab rule, and today offers a vast cultural legacy. Your walking tour begins at the pier. Walk along the sea wall to reach the Town Hall Square and the main avenue, admiring interesting modernist buildings from the beginning of the 20th century. You then continue to the Roman Theatre, the most important archaeological site in the region. The theatre is in the heart of Cartagena but was lost for more than 1,500 years: it dates back some 2,000 years to the heyday of Cartagena's period as an important Roman city. Built on one of the highest hills in the city, its tiered rows of seats were dug out of the rock so that 6,000 spectators had a view of the stage. After seeing the theatre, you have the choice of returning to your ship with your guide or staying in the town centre to explore on your own.

This excursion is entirely on foot and covers at least two and a half miles, almost entirely over some cobblestones and uneven surfaces when you reach the Roman theatre. There will be at least 60 steps at the Roman theatre.

In Spanish culture, horses are hugely important – not only historically for work, but for entertainment too. Great steeds entertain crowds of people who enjoy the graceful movement of such a powerful animal. Ideal for equine enthusiasts, this tour offers an up-close experience with some of the finest Spanish horses, much sought after throughout the world. Enjoy a short panoramic drive out of Cartagena and arrive at this hacienda – an open space – where horses are trained. Here, see and even touch the brood mares and foals, learn the art of horse training and how to manage stallions before your horse show begins, featuring an Andalucian dancer. After the show, enjoy a tasting of the local produce created in the area (wine and olive oil) before returning to the port, perhaps with a new-found fondness for these powerful Spanish horses.

Enjoy the scenery and history of Cartagena and its surrounding countryside on a relaxing panoramic coach tour. Your tour begins with a drive to Cabo de Palos lighthouse, which is located on a small peninsula. Construction began on the lighthouse in 1863 and it was first lit on January 31, 1865. The building rises 100 feet above sea level. Next, relax as you drive south through the Murcia countryside to Sierra Minera de la Unión. The Romans were the first people to begin extracting minerals from the mines here, and with a landscape that is laced with zinc, iron, lead, and pyrite, you can enjoy some excellent views. Your tour continues to Cartagena, which was founded by the Phoencians in 227 BC and flourished as part of the Roman Empire. During your city tour you will see reminders of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine and Moorish rule in the architecture. You can also see the Punic wall, The Civil War Museum, or the Navy Museum before you head back to the ship.

This visit to the Jumilla wine region offers you the opportunity to learn the history and characteristics of different Jumilla wines. Jumilla has had an important wine-making tradition for centuries and today is recognised as one of Spain’s most promising wine regions. Located to the northwest of the capital city of Murcia, the area is made up of wide valleys separated by a chain of mountains. Leave the port and travel by coach to Jumilla. Your first visit will be at the BSI Winery, which was the first producer of wines in the region. Learn about their history and methods and enjoy a tasting of two of their wines. The tour then continues to Viña Elena, one of the oldest family-run bodegas in the region. Originally known as Bodegas Pachecho, the bodega will give you a chance to take a step back in time and witness the evolution that has made the business it is today. Here, you will taste three of their wines and a light snack before returning to Cartagena by coach.

The drive to and from Jumilla is approximately 90 minutes each way. There is up to one mile of essential walking over some uneven surfaces. We recommend that you wear flat walking footwear. This tour has limited capacity.

Your tour begins with a shuttle bus journey into Palma City. The walking tour sets off from La Escollera, first passing by the exterior of the cathedral before making your way to St Francesc Church. Whilst at the St Francesc Courtyard, you will have an opportunity to taste some olive oil which Mallorca is renowned for. Next, head to a local market ‘Mercado del Olivar’; a vibrant hub of activity. Here you can independently browse stalls selling a variety of local products from cheese to seafood. Afterwards, you will be given an Ensaïmada (traditional Mallorcan pastry) to go. At the end of the tour you can choose to stay in the city to explore independently or walk back to the shuttle pick up point with the guide.

There is two-and-a-quarter miles of walking on this tour with up to 12 steps during the walk, and up to 50 steps to reach the Cloister of the monastery of St Francesc. The shuttle bus journey will take approximately 15 minutes each way. You will have approximately 40 minutes of free time at Mercado del Olivar.

Your tour starts with a drive along the Maritime Promenade reaching Bellver Castle, one of the most important examples of Gothic civil architecture in Majorca. Not far from the centre of the city, this castle of “beautiful views” watches over the port and was built by Jaume II at the beginning of the 14th century. It was conceived as a defensive redoubt and royal residence, but it became most famous as a prison, from the middle-ages until the Civil War. Among many others, the enlightenment encyclopaedist, Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, was a prisoner here for six years; only four months after Jovellanos was set free, the young French Physicist François Arago ventured through the castle. Pause here for an external photo stop, before returning to Palma where the coach will drop you off and then you will continue on foot to the cathedral, constructed between the 13th and 14th century, it is one of the finest Gothic examples of architecture on the continent. Next to it stands the Almudaina Palace, a monument which was converted from an Arab fortress into the residence for the Kings of Majorca. During your walking tour, your guide will point out the most important aspects of this monument from the outside. Continue your walking tour through Old Palma before your return transfer to the ship.

Your day starts with a scenic drive passing by Palma’s Bay. Along the seaside, see the Yacht Marina with hundreds of boats and ships of all sizes and shapes, while a nonstop flow of bikers, runners and walkers travelling up and down the promenade beneath the palm trees. You’ll also see the sparkling life of this part of the city, with plenty of restaurants, pubs, hotels and shops - even enjoy a photo stop in front of the area’s impressive Cathedral. The route then takes you behind Palma to go deeper inside the island. When reaching the rural countryside, you’ll make a stop at the Ramanya winery. Here, you will learn about the history of the facilities and the details of the wine cellar processes. Then follow this up by enjoying a tasting of some of the region’s distinguished wines paired with local tapas. At the end of the day, return to the coach for a scenic drive back to the pier.

There is one-and-a-half miles of walking over uneven ground including 15 steps at the winery and extended periods of standing. The wine tasting will consist of four different wines with the following light tapas: local almonds, Majorcan bread with olive oil and cheese, and Majorcan biscuit with local sausage. The marina area is currently undergoing refurbishments which may impact the route taken and views available on the day.

Travel by coach through Palma city centre, enjoying a short panoramic tour before arriving at Son Reus Railway Station to board the historic Soller Railway. Since 1912, this three-foot gauge electric train has operated a daily service along the 17-mile route between Palma and Soller. Enjoy a panoramic view of the Majorcan Mountains, orange groves and quaint villages during your 50-minute scenic train journey which negotiates the 1¾ mile Tunnel Major through the Sierra de Alfabia and the Cinq Pons viaduct. On arrival in Soller, a charming little town set on a hillside, enjoy a short walking tour and the opportunity to explore independently during some free time before returning to the ship by coach.

Additional Information

This train is not exclusive to Saga guests and the carriage may be shared with other passengers. Depending on railway schedules, the train journey could operate in either direction and you may travel to Soller by coach and return by train or vice versa. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility, the tour involves an uphill walk of approximately 20 minutes to reach the centre of Soller from the coach and there are 28 steps leading to/from the train platform. There is an additional mile of essential walking required during your visit to Soller, the area is also hilly so expect to negotiate inclines. The railway carriages are not modernised, are unable to accommodate wheelchairs and do not have air-conditioning. Station platforms are low and there may be a wide gap between the platform edge and the carriage door. The train ride includes 13 tunnels, some of which are quite long, so may not be suitable for passengers who suffer from claustrophobia.

A Majorcan visit is not the same without including the mysterious and otherworldly Drach Caves on your must-see list. Spread over 2000 metres, they are a natural wonder full of spectacular rock formations and home to one of the largest underground lakes in the world. The excursion begins with a coach ride across the island, passing through picturesque villages until you arrive at the Caves of Drach. Beautifully lit, you will walk along the paths where you can fully admire the beauty of these incredible caves before taking a trip across the underground lake accompanied by musicians playing classical music. After this magical visit, then continue along to Porto Cristo, a charming village popular with yachts as a result of its deep harbour. Whilst here, you will have half an hour of free time to enjoy the views from one of the many terraces or take a stroll around the promenade.

The caves are a popular tourist attraction and at times may become crowded. The tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties.

Leaving Portoferraio, you will head west for a scenic drive across the island.

First you will visit Marciana Marina, a small seaside resort, characterised by traditional pastel-coloured houses. Marciana Marina is the smallest of the eight municipalities of Elba Island. You will have some time at leisure to explore here, perhaps take a stroll along the waterfront and see the Pisan Tower, built in the 12th century as a lookout and defensive point against pirate raids.

Next, head to Marina di Campo to visit Hotel dei Coralli, where you will enjoy a light refreshment in the garden.

Soak up the sunshine and the highlights of Elba on this scenic drive through the island, with a visit to the beautiful Porto Azzurro. Begin your drive from Portoferraio to Marina di Campo where you will admire the breathtaking Bay of Biodola and Procchio. Continue along the coast to Porto Azzurro and take in the view of the naturally stunning, famous bay of Lacona, Laconella, and Golfo Stella. You’ll then have free time to browse the charming streets of Porto Azzurro town – where you’re likely to notice the predominant, ancient, Spanish fortress - also known as Fort Longone. It overlooks the town and bay, sitting at the top of a peaceful cliff. Once you’ve taken your time to explore the surrounding area, you can enjoy a light refreshment at a local bar.

Take in Elba's natural main attractions with its rugged landscapes and pristine beaches. During this scenic tour, you will cover the north and centre of the island, allowing plenty of photographic opportunities. Stops will be made in Marciana Marina, an ancient fishing village, and Marina di Campo which has a broad promenade running along the seafront behind the pebble beach. You will have free time in both villages for independent sightseeing.

During this scenic tour, covering the south and centre of Elba, admire rugged landscapes and pristine beaches, with plenty of photographic opportunities. Itinerary highlights include Marina di Campo, with its broad promenade running along the seafront behind a pebble beach. A stop will be made here for souvenir shopping and independent sightseeing within this little fishing town.

Next, the continue to Porto Azzurro, a typical fishing town, which boasts valuable historic and natural treasures. After World War Two, the people of what was then called Portolongone asked to change the name of their town to Porto Azzurro. The town has become one of the preferred destinations for thousands of Italian and foreign tourists.

You will have some time at leisure here before returning to the ship.

Departing from Portoferraio, you’ll drive through this bustling capital of Elba Island and enjoy scenic sights of rocky beaches, dramatic cliffs and outstanding views over the bays of “Lacona”, “Laconella” and “Golfo Stella”.

You’ll then reach the lovely and welcoming village of Porto Azzurro where you can discover its rich history and culture – located nearby the Spanish fortress of Longone. During the journey back to Portoferraio, you will pay an exciting visit to the old country wine-farm “La Chiusa”, nestled in a vineyard overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Here, you will visit the estate’s cellar to learn how the wine is handled and produced.

Then, enjoy a delicious sampling of three local wines served with light snacks of assorted bruschetta and Tuscan salami in the garden facing the sea. After this stop, you will return to the ship.

Discover Lucca on foot, one of the most picturesque towns in Tuscany. The present town has evolved since Etruscan and Roman times: the oval Piazza Anfiteatro stands on the site of the original Roman amphitheatre, the structure of which has been incorporated into the surrounding medieval buildings. From 1325 until the early 19th century, Lucca was an independent republic and enjoyed long periods of peace and prosperity. Its massive ramparts are in an almost perfect state of preservation, as they were never put to the test. Your guided walk will show you the main sights of this intriguing city, including the Basilica of San Frediano, which has a brilliant 13th-century mosaic of Christ in Majesty and a font carved with Romanesque scenes of Moses, the Good Shepherd and Apostles. Passing the remains of the amphitheatre, your walk continues to the Cathedral of San Martino, one of the finest examples of the Pisan Romanesque style in Italy. At the end of your walking tour, you have some time at leisure to walk along the main street, Via Fillungo. Nowadays a lively street lined with elegant shops, this was the ancient Cardo Maximus of the Roman city.

Lucca is an ancient town with cobbled streets, and participants on this excursion should expect to walk for approximately one mile over uneven ground with occasional steps. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The drive from Livorno to Lucca takes approximately 45 minutes.

Discover Renaissance Florence on a walking tour that highlights some of the city’s most celebrated sights and architecture. Your first stop is at the famous Duomo, dominating the city with its orange dome, built by Filippo Brunelleschi between 1420 and 1436. The cathedral is the largest building in Florence, containing colourful 16th-century frescoes by Vasari and intricate marble paving. Admire the Baptistery with its ‘Gate of Paradise’ - a door with ten bronze relief panels depicting Biblical stories - before continuing across Signoria Square. Walk past the Uffizi and reach the Palazzo Borghese, stopping for an included two-course lunch served with a glass of wine. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the nearby Gothic church of Santa Croce and point out the details of its exterior. You then have some free time to look around the city at your own pace, taking in more of its sights or going shopping, before returning to your coach for the drive back to Livorno.

Further walking during an hour of free time will be at your discretion. The coach will stop, drop off and pick up approximately one mile from the centre of Florence, which is pedestrianised and can become very crowded. The drive from the ship to Florence will normally take approximately one-and-a-half hours each way. Dietary requests must be advised to the Explore Ashore Manager on board ship at least 72 hours prior to arrival.

Discover the charm of the Tuscan countryside on a visit to the Vialto farmhouse. Upon arrival at the farmhouse, board a traditional horse and carriage which will take you on a tour of the property – revealing olive trees, vineyards and a well-cared-for farmhouse. Then, there’s time to meet the owner and his proud family who will likely be carrying out their everyday activities that contribute towards the running of the farm. After learning more about their roles and life on the land, sit down and indulge your taste buds with a traditional lunch, including freshly baked Focaccia bread, meats and cheese. This will be served with an authentic Tuscan wine pairing.

Although minimal walking is required on this tour, expect to walk 250 yards over flat terrain. You will need to be able to board the carriage unassisted, which involves at least one steep access step. Example lunch menu – Tuscan appetisers, pasta and dessert. Depart the pier and travel by motorcoach to Pisa. On arrival, board your trolley train for an easy tour of the city. Drive past sights, discovering this famous Marine Republic, while your guide reveals elements of its rich history. Once at The Field of Miracles, the main Pisa square, admire its splendour and listen to the stories of this world-famous place. You will then have some time for photos before retracing your way by trolley train, to the motorcoach parking area for your return drive to Livorno.

Enjoy this half-day excursion to explore Livorno, a city that owes much of its prosperity to its extensive network of waterways. A 15-minute transfer takes you from the cruise port to the Medicean old port. Here, you are invited to step aboard a local boat which will take you through the city’s most colourful district, known by locals as ‘New Venice’. Sights to be seen during your boat tour include New Fortress, Republic Square, Santa Caterina Church, Old Fortress and the Fisherman Harbour. After taking a short walk to the centre of the city, you can choose to join your guide on a short optional walking tour, or have some time at leisure to relax or explore independently before returning to your ship.

After tendering ashore you will be greeted by your guide at the pier, ready to accompany you on a walk to the famous pastel-washed main square of Piazzetta in Portofino. After taking in the main sites within the area, your walking tour will proceed to the Church of St George. From the terrace of the church, enjoy the view over the bay and the open sea on the other side of the promontory.

Next, walk to the Faro di Portofino (the lighthouse), pause here to take some more pictures of the landscape. Then follow your guide, as you retrace your steps to the port. The church honours the legend of a sailor who, during the Middle Ages, brought a sculpture of the Virgin Mary with a rose in her right hand and Jesus on her left arm. After, enjoy some time at leisure, before boarding the public ferry for the journey back to Portofino. On arrival, enjoy a short walk with the guide and then tender back to the ship.

After tendering ashore, begin your hike from the pier as you walk from Portofino to Santa Margherita Ligure. Firstly, pass through the town of Portofino with your guide. Take in the elegant shops and boutiques that surround the piazzetta. After, seeing the church, you will reach the hiking path. The guide will choose the route based on the group's ability, weather and path conditions.

The first half of the hike is mostly uphill on route to Cappelletta, San Sebastiano and Olmi. To reach Molini, the path leads through Mediterranean flora with medieval villas nestled among plants, olive trees and vineyards. Along the way, admire the cliff faces which overlook the clear sea views before continuing towards Santa Anna and Nozarego. 

Finally, you descend to the promenade of Santa Margherita Ligure. Admire the panoramas of the town's villas and hotels hugging the bay as you pause for a light refreshment at a cafe. Afterwards, return to Portofino by public ferry.

This tour begins with a drive through Calvi en route to the Corsican countryside. Cross the river Figarella towards the village of Calenzana, nestled amongst olive trees at the foothills of the Montegrossu. Calenzana has a long-standing agricultural tradition and is known for its wine and cheese making. Take a moment to explore the 17th-century Baroque church of the village, along with its three chapels and winding, old streets.

After, reboard the coach and continue to Domaine Orsini Estate. During your visit, learn about their process and the ways they combine both modern and ancient methods to produce their quality wine. There will be a tasting of three of their wines and you will also be given a complimentary bottle of Orsini Wine to take home.

Then, return to Calvi by coach.

Travel by coach to Ile Rousse where you will board the Little Train.

Ile Rousse enjoys a seaside setting, at the foot of the Balagne hills. The town was founded by Pasquale Paoli in 1758 during the Corsican Revolution. The architecture here mostly dates from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.Aboard the little train, you will discover the city's monuments with commentary and anecdotes about the history of Pasquale Paoli's city. The ride begins from Place Paoli in the city centre, before continuing to the Pietra Islands.

Afterwards, enjoy some time at leisure before the return drive to the ship.

Expect to walk approximately 300 yards. Walking during the free time is entirely at your discretion. The coach journey to and from Ile Rousse will take approximately 30 minutes. There will be a step to board and alight the little train, and the ride may be bumpy at times. The little train journey last for approximately 45 minutes. You will have 45 minutes of free time in Ile Rousse. To use restrooms in cafes you will be required to make a purchase.

Embark on a scenic drive to Galéria through the Balagne Desert, the only “desert” in Europe – here, instead of sand you see an arid landscape, made up of Maquis and deep red rocks.

On arrival to Galeria, stop for a refreshment. Afterwards, reboard the coach for the return drive to Calvi. On route, you will pause at the Notre Dame de La Serra for photos, the small chapel is perched on a hill and was built in the 19th century on the ruins of a shrine dating back to the 15th century. It is a prominent landmark of the Balagne region. Take a moment to admire the view of Calvi, Calenzana and Revellata before returning to the ship.

Corsica is known for its scenery and this tour begins with a journey along winding scenic roads and through villages, discovering the Balagne region.

Discover a number of villages from your coach until you reach Corsica’s oldest village, Sant’Antonino. Perched on a hillside, Sant’Antonino is often referred to as the ‘Eagles Nest’ and is officially classfied as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Enjoy 45 minutes to explore this village - wander up and down the narrow streets, steep pathways and pass the ancient houses built into the granite rock.

After your visit, return to Calvi by coach, passing more scenic suburbs en route.

Although walking during your free time in Sant’Antonino is at your discretion, we have graded this excursion as Moderate due to the steep terrain and steps. There are no public toilet facilities in the village, and you may need to purchase a refreshment in one of the local cafes to use the facilities.

This tour starts with a panoramic drive around Cádiz, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain. The historic town centre is still surrounded by fortifications, dating mainly from the 18th century, and inside the walls it has changed little over the past 300 years: few buildings are more than three or four stories high, and the cathedral dome still dominates the city. Following your tour, proceed to a local ‘tablao’ – an Andalusian tavern – for an authentic flamenco performance.

Flamenco originated as the music of Spanish gypsies, incorporating both Western European and North African influences. Sit back and enjoy a traditional performance of its staccato, balletic dances, haunting ballads and fiery guitar music. While enjoying the music and dancing, you will be served wine and local ‘tapas’ – small plates of Serrano ham, cheese and Spanish omelettes. You can even try some flamenco dancing for yourself!

Following this cultural and gastronomic experience, your coach will take you back to the port.

Leaving the port by coach, travel through Cádiz and then along the winding roads, climbing the tree-flanked hillside. Arriving at the Spanish hillside town, see the whitewashed houses, declared a national monument in 1978. Afterwards, return to Cádiz and your awaiting ship.

The city of Cádiz has – since the Discovery of America – provided Europe with a gateway to the New World. The city, popularly known as the Tacita de Plata (Silver Cup), boasts monuments of great interest. Many of them will be seen during your panoramic drive around the city, such as the cathedral, the city walls, Genovese Park, Alameda de Apodaca, Plaza de España, Puerta de la Caleta and Puerta de Tierra.

Following your panoramic drive, you will begin your walking tour through the city’s narrow lanes. Starting at the Town Hall, in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios, continue towards the golden cupola of the cathedral, which looms high above.

Afterwards, stop for a refreshment and enjoy a sherry, beer or soft drink at a local cafe before returning to the ship.

Seville’s history is punctuated by peaks and troughs: golden ages and a great plague which wiped out half of the city’s population. Standing testament to both its past and present is the architecture awaiting your exploration on this tour, including the largest cathedral in the world and a palace fit for a ruler – several, in fact.

Upon arrival in Seville, start your excursion with a visit to Plaza de España – a semi-circular brick building overlooking a small canal, then continue with a drive Paseo de Colon where you will start your walking tour through the Santa Cruz Quarter. This enchanting neighbourhood, formerly the Jewish Quarter, is renowned for its charming squares.

Your walk continues towards Seville’s cathedral, a symbol of Christianity’s triumph over Islamic rule: after all, the Christian holy place was built on top of the Islamic one. Gaze up at the tall minaret which has been transformed into the cathedral’s belltower and, stepping inside the cathedral itself, you will find extraordinarily high vaulted ceilings, 80 chapels and Christopher Columbus’s tomb. Here, you will gaze at the golden altar piece, which was the lifework of Flemish craftsman Pierre Dancart, taking over 60 years to perfect!

You will then have the opportunity for some time at leisure, to explore or enjoy lunch locally before returning to the ship by coach.

On this excursion, visit the Fundador winery to discover the simple secret that brandy goes exceptionally well with chocolate. The winery was founded in 1730 and consists of several vineyards, a winemaking plant, ageing cellars and a bottling centre. During your exclusive time at the winery, you are invited to tour the museum to learn about Fundador, credited as being Spain’s first brandy, before a tasting of three brandies paired with three different chocolates.

On your return journey back to the port, you will enjoy a panoramic tour of Jerez and Cadiz.

Arriving at Jerez de la Frontera, famous as the home of sherry, flamenco dancing and purebred Andalusian horses, enjoy a short walk in the town centre. After your guided walk, reboard your coach before your return journey to Cádiz. Here, your coach will take you on a short panoramic drive around the city centre.
