Jools Holland OBE DL is a composer, pianist, bandleader and broadcaster. From playing pubs in the East End docks as a teenage greaser, to leading his rhythm and blues orchestra and selling millions of records this century, it is his passion for music that has made Jools Holland into a doyen of the music scene. Jools was awarded an OBE in 2003 for his services to the British music industry and in 2007 his autobiography, Barefaced Lies & Boogie-Woogie Boasts, hit the shelves.
Celebrity chef John Torode MBE
A hugely popular and influential figure on the UK culinary circuit, John is best known as the straight-talking co-host and judge of MasterChef and Celebrity MasterChef.
A regular guest chef on This Morning, John also appears with his wife Lisa Faulkner co-hosting John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen on ITV. His newest show, ‘John Torode’s Ireland’ is out on Discovery Network. John was awarded an MBE in 2022 for his services to food, broadcasting and charity.
He has written many cookery books, including the best selling ‘My Kind of Food’ and ‘Sydney to Seoul’. Celebrity chef John Torode MBE will give two on-board demos and a Q&A during this cruise.

Mahon, Minorca

Mahon, capital of Minorca, lies in a sheltered natural harbour. The rocky shoreline is dotted with elegant Georgian-style architecture, a throwback to its period of 18th-century British occupation. The museum in Fort Marlborough offers a look back at this era. Other attractions close by include 19th-century Mola Fortress, built to prevent the return of the British, and Far de Favaritx lighthouse. Toulon, France

The French Navy has laid anchor in Toulon’s sheltered harbour since the end of the 16th century. The port’s oldest fortification, the squat Tour Royale, was used to store the French national gold reserves during the Franco German war of 1870. The lively markets, boutiques, squares and harbourside eateries of this French Riviera gem exude joie de vivre. See the iconic 1950s red cable car making regular trips up Mount Faron which rears up behind the city – the ride affords outstanding views en route to the summit where a museum displays World War Two artefacts.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona has numerous attractions, from subterranean Roman ruins to the elegant architecture of the Gothic quarter and the imaginative designs of Gaudi. At the city’s heart is Placa de Catalunya, an immense square dotted with fountains and statues, which bridges the old city and the 19th-century Eixample district. Lively La Rambla, the city’s main pedestrianised artery, flows from this square to Port Vell. Landmark sights include the Sagrada Familia and the 13th-century cathedral.

Palma, Majorca

Gibraltar

Watching over the entrance to the Mediterranean, stands the unmistakable limestone Rock of Gibraltar. At its base lies Gibraltar which is connected to the end of the Iberian Peninsula by a sandy isthmus and offers an intriguing blend of British and Spanish culture. Discover Gibraltar’s Palladian architecture and typically British sights, such as red pillar boxes and familiar highstreet chains, during an included panoramic excursion. Alternatively, visit the military museum or ascend the limestone monolith by cable car for panoramic views and to meet the mischievous Barbary macaques. From the top of the Rock you can look out over two continents: Africa lies just 13 miles to the south, whilst Europe stretches to the north.

Lisbon Overview - Included Excursion
Walking difficulty: Panoramic tour
Discover the city of Lisbon on this panoramic tour. Leaving the port, drive past the Jerónimos Monastery, built using limestone over a period of 100 years starting in 1501; UNESCO-listed Belém Tower, constructed with the primary objective of protecting the bay; the Monument to the Discoveries; the pink façade of Belém Palace, the official residence of the Portuguese president; the new Coach Museum; Avenida da Liberdade, the most central avenue in Lisbon and a popular shopping district for both tourists and locals; and Edward VII park. You will also cross the 25th April suspension bridge over the Tagus River to see the imposing statue of Christ the Redeemer. Stretching across the estuary to the Tagus River in Lisbon the suspension bridge is considered as a twin sister of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco because of its similar design. The bridge is an impressive sight, and it also offers a breathtaking view when crossing it. Visible from most parts of Lisbon and beyond, the statue of Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Rei) stands a striking 270 feet high on its angular pedestal, overlooking the south bank of the Tagus River. One of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks standing tall with its robed arms outstretched, it was erected in 1959 and modelled on the famous Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro. Then, enjoy your scenic drive back to the port.

Island Highlights – Included Excursion

From the pier, take a short transfer to the idyllic Arenal d’en Castell, where a brief stop is scheduled for you to enjoy the views over Arenal and the Addaia Fortress. The next stop will be Monte Toro, the island’s spiritual centre. At the summit of this hill is the Sanctuary of the Mother of God of Toro, run by a Franciscan community of nuns. At the top, there is a statue of Jesus of the Sacred Heart, whose pedestal is dedicated to those Menorcans who died during the Moroccan war. Return to the port, following a photo stop at the top of Mounte Toro.

An Introduction to Barcelona - Included excursion
Walking difficulty: Panoramic tour
See some of Barcelona’s sights from the comfort of your tour vehicle during this introduction to the city. Your tour begins by heading to Poblenou, a neighbourhood that has experienced substantial industrial growth. On route you will pass by the Colon Statue, Barceloneta beach and Ciutadella Parc. From here, you will arrive at the city centre before continuing towards the Art Nouveau San Pau Hospital. Enjoy a short stop at Paseo Lluis Company, a promenade where you can view the Arc de Triomf. Afterwards, reboard your coach and continue your panoramic tour of the city, passing Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batlló and Casa Milá before arriving at Plaza Cataluña and Plaza Universitá. The last part of the tour takes you to Spanish Square, where the Montjuïc hill is located. Drive up and admire a spectacular panoramic view over the city before you drive back to the harbour. If time allows, there will be a short photo stop at the National Museum of Cataluña.

Scenic Rock Tour - Included Excursion
Walking difficulty: Panoramic tour
You start the tour by heading towards the airfield runway to reach the British/Spanish Frontier. Proceed towards the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europa Point and the sight of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. Here, alight from your tour vehicle to take some photographs of the views of the busiest shipping lane in the world, the mingling of the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean and two continents. Then it’s time to head to the Rock of Gibraltar. You will drive down to Princess Caroline’s Battery and enjoy the scenery from the Nature Reserve, the Bay and the Spanish Mainland along with a wide selection of Mediterranean flora and fauna along the way. After, travel via the Upper Rock area, passing by the Moorish Castle and the Tower of Homage that still bears the scars of battle.

The duration of this tour is dependent on traffic. Any type of wheelchairs, scooters or foldable walkers are not permitted on the buses. Guincho, Cascais & Estoril
Walking difficulty: Panoramic tour
Leave the ship and take the motorway towards Guincho, then driving through a part of Serra de Sintra National Park. Afterwards, visit Praia do Guincho – one of the finest beaches of the Lisbon region that offers both surfing and dramatic scenery. Guincho is situated on the western edge of the Serra da Sintra National Park and this designation has protected the remote and wild ambience of the beach from tourist development. Continue to the popular resorts of Cascais and Estoril. Cascais with a bay lined by elegant houses is about sixteen miles from Lisbon and was originally a fishing port. Continue to cosmopolitan Estoril. This smart resort, with its long sandy beach, gained a reputation in the twentieth century as a refuge for deposed European monarchs including King Edward VIII of England after his abdication and King Juan Carlos I of Spain before the restoration of the Spanish monarchy. There is a final drive along “marginal”, the scenic road on the oceanfront, as you enter the suburbs of Lisbon and finally return to your ship.

Lisbon Vintage Tram and Port Wine
Walking difficulty: Easy Activity
If you want to take in the sights and absorb the atmosphere of Lisbon at a relaxed pace, finishing with a taste of the local tipple, then this tour is for you. Lisbon’s vintage trams are among the city’s icons, and this tour includes a ride on one of these historical vehicles. A coach will take you into the heart of the city where you will board a traditional wooden-bodied tram for a scenic one-hour journey through Alfama and Bairro Alto, two of the oldest districts of the city which are characterised by winding alleyways and whitewashed houses with flowers on their balconies. Following your tram journey, you will visit a local establishment and be served a glass of white port accompanied by white chocolate; you can then enjoy a glass of ten-year-old Tawny port with a miniature ‘Pastel de Nata’ cake. The tour would not be complete without a panoramic coach ride through the city, viewing some of Lisbon’s famous landmarks such as the Monument to the Discoveries, Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, the far end of the Edward VII Park, the Rossio district and St George’s Castle.

The trams are authentic historical vehicles and are accessed by a steep flight of three steps. There is no commentary during the tram ride, but your guide will describe the journey before you board. The trams are exclusive to Saga passengers. You will need to walk at least 250 yards from the tram to the port tasting venue.
Lisbon Tuk Tuk Tour
Walking difficulty: Easy Activity
Within the depths of Lisbon’s old quarters, narrow cobbled streets weave their way past cafes and bars, leading to several landmarks which you’ll see during this tour. The areas are often inaccessible to cars and buses, however, there is one mode of transport that is well-equipped for this sightseeing exploration – the ‘tuk tuk’. This three-wheeled vehicle inherits its nickname from the noise that early models once made – a spluttering ‘tuk tuk tuk’. Since their creation over fifty years ago, the design has evolved – many tuk tuks are electric, and Lisbon is Europe’s E-Tuk capital of the world! Climb aboard your miniature tour vehicle, accompanied by your knowledgeable driver guide. Pass through Bairro Alta and the district known as Alfama before arriving at the Nossa Senhora do Monte viewpoint. Near St George’s Castle, it offers a sweeping view of the city below. The tour continues through the city’s steep and narrow, historic streets. There is a brief stop at Chiado in the centre of Lisbon, an elegant and bohemian neighbourhood, between Bairro Alto and Baixa Pombalina. It is frequently compared to Paris’ Montmartre district, rebuilt after it was destroyed by fire in 1998. The most famous streets are Rua do Carmo, which houses the ruins of a church by the same name and Rua Garrett, in the centre of Chiado. See the square and its surrounding streets, packed with cafes, theatres and museums. Then, enjoy a traditional snack of marmalade and cheese paired with a glass of port before returning to the ship.
Additional Information
Please consider taking an additional layer of clothing as elements of the ride may be colder than expected. The step up into the vehicle may be steep with compact seating. This tour is unsuitable for guests with walkers.
Lisbon Downtown Walking Tour
Walking difficulty: Strenuous Activity
From natural disasters to wealthy traders, the history of Lisbon is punctuated by dramatic rises and falls. The city suffered extensive damage during the 1755 earthquake, but its
cobbled winding streets and wide-open squares can still be seen. A walking tour is the ideal way to get up close to the city’s most significant examples of historical architecture, starting with Alfama – a labyrinth of narrow cobbled alleyways, flanked by colourful houses. The area was once located outside of the city walls and was inhabited by the city’s sailors and dock workers. Continue to 12th-century Sé de Lisboa, the cathedral of Lisbon, an important site of pilgrimage and one of Portugal’s most significant monuments. On your way to Rossio, once the liveliest square in the city, your guide may point out the Elevador de Santa Justa – a marvel of 19th-century industrialisation. The elevator utilises wrought iron as decorative art. Enjoy a stop at Confeitaria Nacional – one of Lisbon’s oldest coffee shops. After some refreshments, walk through Rua Augusta, passing through its arches to reach Praca do Comércio, also known as ‘Black Horse Square’, named after the statue of King Jose I which occupies a dominating central position. Your final destination is Casa dos Bicos. Built in the 16th century, the house boasts a ‘pincushion façade’ consisting of 1125 diamond-shaped spikes. After walking among Lisbon’s historical architecture, you return to the ship.

Expect to walk at least three miles across uneven ground. There may be more than 15 steps to negotiate.
Sintra and Sintra National Palace
Walking difficulty: Strenuous Activity
Drive to the charming town of Sintra, where you can admire many stunning buildings and works of art. The whole town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on account of its 19th-century romantic architecture. On arrival you will visit Sintra National Palace, also known as Palácio da Vila, famous for its magnificent painted ceilings. The palace is the only survivor of the country's Royal Halls, dating from the Middle Ages. One of the highlights is its kitchen, complete with huge 110-feet high conical chimneys. After your visit to the palace, stop for refreshments, and then enjoy free time to explore on your own. The town has retained much of its medieval layout, with labyrinthine streets, flights of steps and arcaded buildings. On your return journey to the ship you will follow a section of the scenic ocean road, and pass the Belém district with its famous tower.
Additional Information
During the visit to Sintra Palace there will be one hour of standing and essential walking covering a maximum of 500 metres. There are approximately 120 steps and a winding staircase inside the palace. Walking during time at leisure is at your discretion, but please note Sintra Town has cobbled streets, steps and inclines. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. We recommend that you wear flat walking shoes.
Portuguese School of Equestrian Art
Walking difficulty: Moderate Activity
The Portuguese School of Equestrian Art is a national treasure, promoting the teaching, practice and global dissemination of the traditional Portuguese equestrian art. Entwined with the traditions and customs of the 18th-century Portuguese court, the school provides a glimpse into the past through the elegant “dance” of the thoroughbred Lusitano horses. Look behind the scenes to see how the handlers care for the horses. Then at Henrique Calado Riding Ring, watch the warm-up and agility exercises performed by riders dressed in period costumes, training for the galas and shows put on by the school. You can also attend the rehearsals of the Equestrian Art exercises and choreographies that recreate the charming atmosphere of the Portuguese court in the 18th century, set to the soundtrack of classical music. After your visit, return to Lisbon by coach.
Additional Information
This tour requires up to 45 minutes of standing and essential walking, covering a maximum of 500 metres, and eight steps. Therefore, this tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Guests should wear flat footwear.
Mahon Walking Tour
Walking difficulty: Strenuous Activity
Disembark your ship to start your walking tour of Mahon accompanied by a local guide. En route, you will pass by the local market, bustling every morning in the heart of the city centre. Continuing your stroll, your guide will introduce you to the history of the island and delve deeper into the influences of different cultures that have joined the population here. Next, you’ll pause outside the Santa Maria Church to admire the exterior pillars and side chapels before stopping by Teatro Principal De Mao – built in 1829, titled Spain’s oldest opera house. After your visit, it’s time to head back to the ship by foot with your guide, taking in the passing sights one last time.
Additional Information
Expect up to approximately two miles of walking over uneven ground and cobblestones including a small number of steps. The Market is closed on Sundays and will not be visited if your tour takes place on this day. This tour has limited capacity.
Medieval Ciutadella & Ancient Menorca
Walking difficulty: Strenuous Activity
Visit the port town of Ciutadella and megalithic chamber tomb, Naveta des Tudons. Leaving the ship, board your coach and travel to your first stop, Naveta des Tudons. This megalithic burial chamber was used between 200 and 750 BC, and you will have the opportunity to learn about the tomb's history during your visit. After taking some photographs your tour continues to Ciutadella. On arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city, which will pass the Cathedral, which was built on the foundations of an old mosque. After your walking tour you return to the port by coach.
Additional Information
There is one-and-a-half miles of essential walking on this tour over uneven ground. It is advisable to wear suitable footwear for walking. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Coastal Drive to Sanary
Walking difficulty: Moderate Activity
Leaving Toulon, start your scenic drive towards St Mandrier Peninsula. The Tamaris coast road leads to Balaguier Bay, where there are two forts: l'Eguillette and Balaguier fort, the latter was recaptured from the English in 1793 by the young Napoleon. Continue the drive, passing through Six-Four-les-Plages, to reach Sanary-sur-Mer. Sanary-sur-Mer is a 16th-century port town in the heart of Provence with a harbour lined with brightly painted buildings and a promenade dotted with palm trees. At one end of the port is a 13th-century tower, once part of an important defensive system. While the church bell of 16th-century Notre Dame de Pitie, set on a hilltop overlooking the town, was rung by the resident hermit to warn of enemy ships on the horizon. Enjoy some free time to relax with a refreshment in one of the harbourside cafes or take a stroll in the old town and browse the boutiques before returning by coach to Toulon.

Discover Toulon by Tourist Train
Walking difficulty: Panoramic tour
Toulon is located between Marseille and St Tropez, in the heart of Provence, and is surrounded by pine-topped hills. Founded by seventh-century Greek colonists and subsequently occupied by the Roman Army, Toulon has also offered hospitality to travelling crusaders, witnessed military engagement during the French Revolutionary Wars and seen ships scuttled in its bay during World War Two. You can learn more about the city’s rich history during a trip aboard the tourist land train. See the busy natural harbour, characterised by the limestone hills topped by forts, such as 17th-century Fort Balaguier – a squat circular tower built to defend the harbour. You will also pass Tour Royale, once surrounded by water, and the curving beaches of Mourillon. Perhaps spot a military vessel in the port – after all, Toulon offers safe mooring to almost 70 percent of the French naval fleet. Having learnt about the development of the city, and admired passing panoramas, return to the ship.
Additional Information
There is up to approximately 100 yards of essential walking to and from the tourist train. When docking at La Seyne this tour will include a bus transfer to and from Toulon. The Tourist Train element of the tour will last approximately one hour.
Cassis & Calanques
Walking difficulty: Moderate Activity
Head to this little seaside resort nestled at the foot of the Cape Canaille cliffs. A former Roman trading post, admire Cassis’ quays lined by cafes and restaurants, jagged coves, natural beaches and its old town. On this tour, join a small boat to cruise among the Massif des Calanques, the steep-walled inlets and bays of the Calanques National Park. This network of canyon-like inlets is one of the geological marvels of southern France. Beneath the surface of these towering rock formations lie caves once inhabited by Neolithic man, now accessible only to divers. After your 45-minute boat trip, you have free time to explore the Provençal port of Cassis, before returning by coach to Toulon.
Additional Information
Walking during free time is at your discretion, however expect to walk more than 500 yards over cobblestones streets. A certain amount of dexterity is required when boarding and disembarking the boats unaided. The boat will be exclusive to Saga guests. The boat trip may be cancelled at short notice in the event of adverse weather conditions. This tour has limited capacity.
Leisurely Aix-en-Provence
Walking difficulty: Moderate Activity
Travel by bus to the former capital of Provence, the birthplace of renowned artist Paul Cezanne and home to the famous novelist, Emile Zola. Aix-en-Provence sits at the foot of the Sainte Victoire mountain. Few towns remain as well preserved as the traditional capital of Provence – Aix-en-Provence, also home to a combination of 18th and 19th century architecture and surrounding boulevards. Upon your arrival, you will board the little train to discover the main sites of the Aix-en-Provence including Cours Mirabeau – this wide avenue, flanked by plane trees, is the hub of Aix. Built in the 17th century on the site of the medieval ramparts, Cours Mirabeau originally had no shops or boutiques. On the right side stand the aristocratic façades of the old mansions with their carved doorways and wrought-iron balconies supported by caryatids or atlantes from the Puget School. You may also spot the natural hot water fountain covered with moss, built in 1734. Its water, which once gushed out at 34°c, was appreciated by the Romans roughly 2000 years ago for its healing properties. Another site you’ll see is St Sauveur Cathedral – a monument where styles from the fifth to the 17th centuries sit side-by-side. Also pass by the Romanesque nave, the baptistery of the Merovingian period, the Triptych of the Burning Bush and the Gothic part before enjoying some free time prior to driving back to Toulon.

Walking during your free time is at your discretion however expect to walk more than 500 yards over cobblestone streets. The drive to and from Aix-en-Provence is approximately one-and-a-quarter hours each way.
Barcelona from the Top
Walking difficulty: Moderate Activity
Travel to Montjuïc Hill and discover the highlights of Barcelona from above. Your route starts at Parc de Montjuic, where the cable car goes directly to Castell de Montjuic. From this stop, you can admire the Montjuic Mountain’s main cultural attractions: Fundacio Miró and the National Art Museum of Catalonia. The castle occupies an ideal defensive site, because it offers 360 degree views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean coast. This space, which means the Mayor’s Lookout Point, was opened in 1969 by Josep Maria Porcioles, who was at that time the city’s mayor. At the end of the tour, enjoy a panoramic drive back towards the port.

Mountain Top Monastery of Montserrat with Rack Train

Visit the sacred mountain of Montserrat or 'Sawtooth Mountain', where you can admire views from a near birds-eye perspective over the mountain ridge. Although relatively small by Spanish standards - less than six miles long and 4,280 feet high - this mountain is very distinctive, and the barren peaks of this isolated crag resemble fingers reaching into the sky, as if in prayer. Your coach takes you north from Barcelona along the Llobregat Valley to the railway station at Monistrol, where you join the train. After the 15-minute ascent on this modern rack-and-pinion railway, reach the famous monastery, which was founded to commemorate the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the mountain. Although it was largely rebuilt in the 19th century, the abbey still houses the statue of the Black Madonna, said to have been found by shepherds in a cave in the 9th century. Once at the top of the mountain, you will be given a ticket that allows you entry to the Montserrat Audio-Visual Exhibition. You can also taste the local Aromas de Montserrat liquor, and, if you wish, walk up to the Sanctuary for a close view of the statue. Finally, after visiting the basilica, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning down the mountain by coach to Barcelona, where you re-join your ship.

Leaving the port, travel to the Penedes Wine area, where you will start your tour at Simón Coll. Simón Coll have been making chocolate since 1840, working from the cocoa bean to the final product. After, you will travel to a wine cellar and discover one of the most important products in the area, Cava. The Freixenet family have been involved in the art of wine making for over 150 years. During your visit you can enjoy a tasting of two cavas before returning to the ship.

Spanish Arts and Park Güell

Starting with a visit to the Spanish village, Poble Espanyol, an interesting open-air museum with replicas of over 100 buildings from different Spanish regions. Stroll through the museum and discover where history meets culture and leisure with all styles of architecture from Romanesque to Baroque. There is also a contemporary art museum, featuring works by Picasso, Dalí, Miró, and more, and a craft centre, where you can see artisans at work. Enjoy some time at leisure to browse before travelling by coach to Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This garden complex is one of Gaudi’s key tourist attractions due to its remarkable buildings, intricate mosaics and ceramic-covered benches. After your visit, re-board your coach for a short panoramic drive back to the port.

This scenic tour starts by leaving the city behind to first enjoy striking panoramic views from the Mirador Sa Foradada, where you can enjoy a photo stop. Then you’ll head through pine forest landscapes, and almond and olive groves until you arrive in the Spanish village of Valldemossa. Here, you can choose an optional 30-minute walking tour, or alternatively enjoy free time to explore one of Majorca’s most beautiful villages and enjoy more magnificent vistas over the valley. With mountain backdrops dressed in blankets of greenery and the famous Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, you’ll see why this is such a highly loved destination within the Balearic Islands. Finally, a drive up to Bellver Castle will give you the chance to photograph the sweeping views overlooking Palma and its glistening seafront. Before returning to your ship, you can also gain insight into the importance of its Gothic architectural style.

Caves of the Drach & Porto Cristo

A Majorcan visit is not the same without including the mysterious and otherworldly Drach Caves on your must-see list. Spread over 2000 metres, they are a natural wonder full of spectacular rock formations and home to one of the largest underground lakes in the world. The excursion begins with a coach ride across the island, passing through picturesque villages until you arrive at the Caves of Drach. Beautifully lit, you will walk along the paths where you can fully admire the beauty of these incredible caves before taking a trip across the underground lake accompanied by musicians playing classical music. After this magical visit, then continue along to Porto Cristo, a charming village popular with yachts as a result of its deep harbour. Whilst here, you will have half an hour of free time to enjoy the views from one of the many terraces or take a stroll around the promenade.

Your tour starts with a drive along the Maritime Promenade reaching Bellver Castle, one of the most important examples of Gothic civil architecture in Majorca. Not far from the centre of the city, this castle of “beautiful views” watches over the port and was built by Jaume II at the beginning of the 14th century. It was conceived as a defensive redoubt and royal residence, but it became most famous as a prison, from
the middle-ages until the Civil War. Among many others, the enlightenment encyclopaedist, Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, was a prisoner here for six years; only four months after Jovellanos was set free, the young French Physicist François Arago ventured through the castle.
Your coach will drop you off and then you will continue on foot to the cathedral, constructed between the 13th and 14th century, it is one of the finest Gothic examples of architecture on the continent. Next to it stands the Almudaina Palace, a monument which was converted from an Arab fortress into the residence for the Kings of Majorca. During your walking tour, your guide will point out the most important aspects of this monument from the outside. Continue your walking tour through Old Palma before your return transfer to the ship.

Your day starts with a scenic drive passing by Palma’s Bay. Along the seaside, see the Yacht Marina with hundreds of boats and ships of all sizes and shapes, while a nonstop flow of bikers, runners and walkers travelling up and down the promenade beneath the palm trees. You’ll also see the sparkling life of this part of the city, with plenty of restaurants, pubs, hotels and shops - even enjoy a photo stop in front of the area’s impressive Cathedral.
The route then takes you behind Palma to go deeper inside the island. When reaching the rural countryside, you’ll make a stop at the Ramanya winery. Here, you will learn about the history of the facilities and the details of the wine cellar processes. Then follow this up by enjoying a tasting of some of the region’s distinguished wines paired with local tapas. At the end of the day, return to the coach for a scenic drive back to the pier.

Soller Vintage Train Ride

Travel by coach through Palma city centre, enjoying a short panoramic tour before arriving at Son Reus Railway Station to board the historic Soller Railway. Since 1912, this three-foot gauge electric train has operated a daily service along the 17-mile route between Palma and Soller. Enjoy a panoramic view of the Majorcan Mountains, orange groves and quaint villages during your 50-minute scenic train journey which negotiates the 1¾ mile Tunnel Major through the Sierra de Alfabia and the Cinq Pons viaduct. On arrival in Soller, a charming little town set on a hillside, enjoy a short walking tour and the opportunity to explore independently during some free time before returning to the ship by coach.

This train is not exclusive to Saga guests and the carriage may be shared with other passengers. Depending on railway schedules, the train journey could operate in either direction and you may travel to Soller by coach and return by train or vice versa. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility, the tour involves an uphill walk of approximately 20 minutes to reach the centre of Soller from the coach and there are 28 steps leading to/from the train platform. There is an additional mile of essential walking required during your visit to Soller, the area is also hilly so expect to negotiate inclines. The railway carriages are not modernised, are unable to accommodate wheelchairs and do not have air-conditioning. Station platforms are low and there may be a wide gap between the platform edge and the carriage door. The train ride includes 13 tunnels, some of which are quite long, so may not be suitable for passengers who suffer from claustrophobia.
Alameda Gardens and Cable Car Ride

Stroll around the Alameda Gardens before capturing views of The Gibraltar Rock on a scenic cable car ride. This tour will also take you to delight in the collection of plants at Alameda Gardens, which are an important conservation project. First, join your guide who will point out the various plants, sights and wildlife whilst also describing its rich history as you wander around the grounds. Gibraltar’s cable car is the territory’s only purpose-built tourist attraction, and you then have the chance to ride up to the very top of the Rock. Enjoy free time to wander around the many terraces and capture the views of the city of Gibraltar to the west and the coastline of Africa to the south. After your tour, a shuttle service will take you straight back to the ship, or you may prefer to be dropped off in the Irish town pedestrian area to explore the many shops. Alternatively, relax in a pub or cafe, before making your own way back to the ship.

Learn about Gibraltar's unique wartime history on this tour. Begin by travelling past the British/Spanish Land Frontier. Your first stop is Europa Point, site of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Britain, where you can savour dramatic views of the Atlantic merging with the Mediterranean. Next you will be taken to the nature reserve, home of the Northern Defences Sector, where you might be able to catch a glimpse of Gibraltar’s most famous residents, the mischievous Barbary apes. Continue to the Hays Level where you begin a guided tour and visit the exhibition which displays a collection of photographs illustrating the history of the World War Two tunnels.

Andalucía produces half of the world´s cork and this area boasts a special high-quality cork sold to the international wine trade market. As well as the bountiful supply of oak trees, view the deep red local ‘Retina’ breed of cattle on the farm, one of Spain´s purest breeds, and enjoy some refreshments. You then have an opportunity to step inside the traditional farm shop selling local products such as leather and cork goods, excellent quality olive oils and sherries. Go in search of dolphins and other marine life on this aquatic-creature based boat trip. Gibraltar’s bay boasts three species of dolphin and seven species of whale, as well as sunfish, flying fish and turtles. After departing from your ship, take the short drive to the ‘Dolphin World’ pleasure cruiser. Then, after setting off into the bay, learn about the history of this tiny colony, and you will be given an insight into the marine life of the bay with a running commentary from your guide. After landing, return transport will be available back to the ship, or if there’s enough time, you can choose to walk into town for shopping and a little independent exploration.
