Amsterdam's historic canals

The Dutch capital is rightly popular for its friendly welcome, picturesque canals, world-class museums and galleries, and laid-back cafes and bars.

Spend the morning at leisure and in the afternoon you can enjoy the local food and culture on an optional culinary walking tour with a guide or instead opt for an optional sightseeing tour of Amsterdam by coach and canal cruise.

Later this evening, after an early dinner on board, look forward to an included visit to the Tuschinski Cinema for a private screening. Located near Amsterdam’s Rembrandt Square, this 100 year-old cinema combines Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Jugendstil and Amsterdam’s School style to create a unique exterior. While the interior has distinctive Asian influences. The cinema was founded by Abraham Tuschinski and his brothers-in-law Hermann Gerschtanowitz and Hermann Ehrlich. Details of the film to be screened will be provided on board.

Historic Dutch Windmill in Zaanse Schans

This morning an included tour explores the historic village of Zaanse Schans.

The Zaan region was an industrial area and its hundreds of windmills were used in the production of a wide variety of different items. See the traditional houses, warehouses, workshops and reconstructed windmills and you'll get an idea of what it was like to live here in the 18th and 19th centuries. Depart during lunch for Hoorn arriving late afternoon for the opportunity join an optional walking tour. This region of Friesland is largely agricultural and particularly famous for its black-and-white Friesian cattle.

Depart Hoorn this evening for the overnight journey to Enkhuizen.

Traditional Dutch Village in the Museum of Zuiderzee

Awaken in Enkhuizen this morning and look forward to an included visit to the Zuiderzee Museum.

With over 140 historic buildings from villages around the former Zuiderzee, it’s a village in itself. Meet the residents of Urk, visit the cheese warehouse for a tasting and have a look in the smithy during your guided tour of the Outdoor Museum. While in the Indoor Museum you can experience what life around this former inland sea was like. This afternoon you have the opportunity to tour a nearby tulip farm on an optional excursion.

Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam

Set sail from Enkhuizen this morning and continue sailing through lunch to arrive in Amsterdam this afternoon.

There is a choice of optional excursions, you can join a guided tour of the modern Eye Film Museum which houses a collection of Dutch films, movie posters and projection equipment, take a trip to Volendam, Edam and the Katwoude cheese farm, or simply explore Amsterdam independently.
