Day 1 UK to Amsterdam

Your adventure starts as you travel by coach via Eurotunnel or ferry to Amsterdam. Embark MS Carmen and look forward to a welcome reception and dinner on board tonight as your cruise begins.

Day 2 Rotterdam to Hellevoetsluis

Your ship moors in Rotterdam in the early hours. After breakfast perhaps take the chance to join an optional tour of Holland’s second city. This afternoon you can get a close-up view of the world’s largest port as you set sail through Rotterdam Harbour.

Day 3 Hellevoetsluis to Veere

Depart before breakfast and sail through the morning towards Veere, where you will arrive at lunchtime. This afternoon perhaps join an optional excursion to the Delta Works, a series of constructions intended to prevent south west Holland from flooding. This evening is at leisure as you remain moored here overnight so you might like to explore Veere, a seaside haven providing inspiration to artists for many years.

Day 4 Veere to Vlissingen to Antwerp

Depart before breakfast and cruise to Vlissingen – a new port of call for Saga – from where you can look forward to an included excursion to the beautiful city of Bruges this morning. The city’s medieval heritage is evident at every turn, with the Gothic Grand Place sprawling at the foot of the Belfry Tower, nearly 300 feet tall. Explore narrow, cobbled streets lined with lace makers, chocolatiers and cafes. The city can also boast one of Belgium’s best museums, the Groeningemuseum. Return to your ship at lunchtime and cruise through the afternoon to arrive in Antwerp at dinner for an overnight mooring.

Day 5 Antwerp

Look forward to a complete day in Belgium’s second largest city, which has many treasures to explore. Travel by coach into the centre of Antwerp to enjoy an included guided walking tour. Antwerp has many treasures to explore, including the 16th-century Grote Markt where you’ll find the unusual Brabo statue illustrating the story of how the city developed. See too the beautiful Cathedral of our Lady, the largest Gothic cathedral in the country, which is home to several original works by the renowned local son and Renaissance painter Peter Paul Rubens. The city is also one of the leading centres in the world diamond industry. Enjoy an evening at leisure as your ship remains moored until late tonight.

Day 6 Maastricht

After sailing overnight and through the morning, arrive in Maastricht at lunchtime. This afternoon perhaps take the chance to join an optional tour of André’s historic home town – one of the oldest settlements in the Netherlands. A stroll along Maastricht's riverside promenades and parks is a great way to spend the afternoon, or you might like to scout the city's fortifications or see the grey-stone town hall in the market place. Maastricht is one of the oldest settlements in the Netherlands and home to the impressive and imposing Basilica of St. Servatius, said to be the oldest church still standing in the country. This evening you will see the man of the hour performing on an open air stage in Vrijthof Square in the heart of the city. You can enjoy your evening to its fullest as your ship remains moored until the early hours.

Day 7 Maastricht to Nijmegen

With last night’s concert still replaying in your head, cruise through the morning along the River Waal to arrive at the Netherlands’ oldest city, Nijmegen, after lunch. An optional guided walking tour this afternoon reveals the highlights.

Day 8 Nijmegen to Kampen to Enkhuisen

Leave Nijmegen behind before breakfast and cruise through the morning to reach Kampen at lunchtime. Perhaps opt to join an optional excursion which visits the water-side village of Giethoorn this afternoon before cruising over dinner to moor in Enkhuisen overnight.

Enjoy a morning at leisure in Enkhuisen. Perhaps seek out the Zuiderzee museum, a reconstructed fishing village depicting life before the IJsselmeer Dam was constructed nearly a century ago. Depart at lunchtime to make the short journey to Hoorn, where you can join an optional walking tour this afternoon. This evening is at leisure as your cruise resumes late tonight, bound for the capital.
