Later travel to Tulcea and embark Spirit of the Danube to begin your cruise.

Day 3 Tulcea to Danube Delta

Glossy Ibis flying in the Danube Delta

Set sail from Tulcea in the early hours and cruise through the wildlife-rich wetland biosphere of the Danube Delta. Listed by UNESCO, the reserve has a diversity of habitats that attract over 300 species of birds and during the breeding-period you may see hundreds of pelicans plus heron, swan and wild duck.

You might opt to depart the ship to join an optional tour of your surroundings at closer quarters.

Depart for Braila during lunch.

Day 4 Braila

The centre of Braila

Spend the morning in Braila, an important trading port in the 19th century and home to some elegant merchants’ villas as a result. In the Old Town you’ll find some interesting churches and a theatre named after a famous Romanian actress. Perhaps explore further on an optional walking tour.

Enjoy a leisurely afternoon cruising along the Danube towards Rousse.
