Explore the Danube’s rich art scene, beginning in Budapest where you can see the main attractions and visit The Hungarian National Gallery during included excursions. An included visit to the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum is sure to be a highlight, with its open-air sculpture garden and collection of modern art.
Your ship will moor for three nights in Vienna giving you plenty of time to enjoy an included sightseeing tour and make use of your complimentary Vienna Pass over two full days. The pass gives you access to some of the city’s most famous galleries and museums, such as The Bank Austria Kunstforum and The Belvedere 21.
Continue to Bratislava for an included tour and entrance to the City Gallery, before a stop in Esztergom enables you to explore the artists’ quarter of Szentendre on an included excursion.

Day 1 UK to Budapest
Fly to Budapest and embark Spirit of the Danube. Enjoy dinner on board as you remain moored here overnight.
Day 2 Budapest 🎧
Budapest is a city made up of two parts: Buda and Pest, built on opposite banks of the Danube. An included sightseeing tour will reveal the capital's highlights, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Buda Castle, Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. Alternatively, you can opt for an included culinary-themed walking tour of the city with strudel making and a visit to the Central Market Hall.
This afternoon enjoy an included visit to the Hungarian National Gallery located within Buda Castle. The collection features Hungarian art across many genres from its beginnings to more contemporary artwork.
Day 3 Samorin
Spend the morning relaxing on board Spirit of the Danube, arriving in Samorin this afternoon.
From here you take a ferry across the river to visit the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum on an included excursion. This world-class museum has a dramatic setting on a peninsula jutting into the Danube and its outdoor sculpture garden adds to the drama. Inside you can browse an extensive collection of modern art.
Day 4 Samorin to Vienna 🎧
Following an early departure from Samorin you will arrive in Vienna early this afternoon.
Enjoy an included sightseeing tour of Vienna, for 600 years the centre of the Habsburg Empire. Your tour includes a drive around the Ringstrasse, a wide avenue encircling the old city, taking in sights such as the Imperial Hofburg complex built by Emperor Franz Josef, and the State Opera House.
Alternatively, to experience the culture and taste local specialities opt for an included culinary walking tour instead.
This evening you have the opportunity to attend a classical concert in a Viennese palace on an optional excursion.
Day 5 Vienna 🎧
Take the complimentary shuttle service into Vienna and make the most of your Vienna Pass, which gives you access to some of the city’s most famous galleries and museums.
See work by Gustav Klimt, Franz West and Erwin Wurm in The Bank Austria Kunstforum; discover 20th and 21st-century art at The Belvedere 21 and Mumok Museum of Modern Art, which displays work by Warhol and Picasso; or head into the heart of Vienna to explore the Dom Museum Wien, which houses historic treasures from St Stephen’s Cathedral, as well as contrasting contemporary art.
Spirit of the Danube remains moored here overnight.
Day 6 Vienna 🎧
Enjoy another full day exploring Vienna’s galleries and museums independently using your complimentary Vienna Pass.
Your ship begins the overnight journey to Bratislava just before midnight.
Day 7 Bratislava 🎧
An early arrival in Slovakia’s capital gives you a full day to explore and an included tour this morning is a great way to see some of the city’s highlights.
Originally part of Czechoslovakia until 1993, Bratislava’s old town, ‘Staré Mesto’, with its historic buildings, provides a stark contrast to the 20th-century buildings, some of which serve as a reminder of its communist past. Your tour includes entrance to the City Gallery, housed at the Mirbach Palace and Palffy Palace, where you can see examples of Baroque paintings, sculptures, fine art and Gothic panel painting.
There is so much to see that you may choose to return in the afternoon to explore further.
Your ship departs in the night bound for Esztergom.
Day 8 Esztergom to Budapest
Arrive this morning in Esztergom and embark on an included visit to Szentendre where you can explore the cobbled streets of its historic artists’ quarter.
Spirit of the Danube will set sail along the Danube early this afternoon to arrive in Budapest this evening.
Day 9 Budapest to UK
Disembark after breakfast and travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
Vienna Evening Concert
Vienna is packed with performances from opera houses and concert halls. Therefore, a trip to Vienna would not be complete without an after-dinner concert of Viennese music.
Travel to Palace Auersperg, or one of Vienna’s other impressive palaces near the famous Ringstrasse and parliament.
