Popular Norway cruise ports
Ålesund
Ålesund is notably famous for its distinctive Art Nouveau architecture; the city was rebuilt in this style after a devastating fire disaster in 1904. Visit the surrounding archipelago and fjords from the Mount Aksla lookout to see panoramic views of this architecture. You can even explore the nearby islands of Giske and Godoy which are rich in Viking history and fishing heritage.
Alta
Alta is surrounded by mountains, forests and coastal scenery. From UNESCO- listed rock art, to its Sami culture and the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel, Alta offers much to discover. Our cruises visit at the peak time of year so that you can seek out the Northern Lights and view a colourful celestial light show.
Bergen
Witness sweeping landscapes by taking the funicular up to the top of Mount Floyen, or visit Bergen’s colourful wooden buildings from the Wharf, a UNESCO site since 1979. This beautiful city is also packed with wonders of natural, cultural and seafaring history accompanied by many fish markets located near the Bryggen wharf houses.
Flåm
This small southwestern village includes a well-known scenic railway journey (Flåmsbana) which features expansive scenery of Western Norway. This trains starts at sea level and runs you past wide-ranging mountain scenery, cascading waterfalls and agricultural landscapes. You can also take a special boat trip into the Nærøyfjord, a spectacular narrow fjord, where most cruise ships cannot go.
Stavanger
Stavanger is a multifaceted city that reflects its progression from a prosperous fishing port to an industrial centre for shipbuilding and oil. Discover the 40-kilometre Lysefjord neighboured by impressive mountains. Here, you can also explore above this fjord and hike up to the iconic Pulpit Rock with great surrounding views.
Tromsø
The city’s setting 69 degrees north of the Arctic Circle also means that it is perched squarely within the Aurora Belt. To top this all of, Tromsø has a surprisingly mild climate considering its location, which allows for the perfect arctic experience without being freezing. Its glories past and present are retold in the Polar Museum, a 19th-century wooden warehouse set on the seafront.
