You start the tour by heading towards the airfield runway to reach the British/Spanish Frontier. Proceed towards the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europa Point and the sight of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain.

Here, alight from your transport to take some photographs of the views of the busiest shipping lane in the world, the mingling of the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean and two Continents. We then head to the Rock of Gibraltar.

Drive down to Princess Caroline’s Battery and enjoy the impressive scenery from the Nature Reserve, the Bay and the Spanish Mainland along with a wide selection of Mediterranean flora and fauna along the way. Then travel via the Upper Rock area- passing by the Moorish Castle and the Tower of Homage that still bears the scars of battle.

Set off on an introductory tour of Malta where you can admire the different landscapes and see some of the island’s villages by coach, as well as enjoying a number of photo stops along the way. Leaving Valletta by coach you'll travel towards the Blue Grotto on route to Ghar Lapsi, a seaside spot known for its clear waters and rugged coastline.

Your tour continues to the Dingli Cliffs where you can enjoy a short stop and capture the view over the Mediterranean Sea. Back on the coach, head north through rural and agricultural landscapes, passing Malta’s Old Capital, Mdina and the town of Mgarr. Continue north towards St Paul’s Bay, where you have another short photo stop. Then, start to make the return journey to Valletta, with a comfort stop on route, before arriving at your ship.

Uncover the sights of the fishing village of Marsaxlokk at your own pace on this excursion of independent exploration. After a 30-minute drive from Valletta to Marsaxlook you will be dropped off in Marsaxlokk, where you will have 90 minutes to explore at your leisure.

During your free time you may like to browse the open market, take a stroll along the picturesque bay where colourful fishing boats bob in the water or just relax and with a coffee in one of the cafes. After your free time here, return to your coach for the drive back to Valletta.

This is an excursion of independent exploration, where walking during the 90 minutes of free time in Marsaxlokk is at your discretion. The coach will drop off approximately 150 yards from the nearest amenities. To make the most of your visit to Marsaxlokk we recommend walking along the seafront – the distance along the seafront is approximately 750 yards. It is your responsibility to be at the drop-off point for the return drive at the given time. A guide will join you on the coach, but this tour does not include a guided tour. Maps of Marsaxlokk will be provided. We advise you to bring some euros should you wish to make a purchase.

Passing through the citrus groves and vineyards of the Phassouri plantations, enjoy a coach journey to Petra Tou Romiou. Legend claims that Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love, was born from the sea foam and carried by the waves to this spot. Here, you will have time to pause for a photo opportunity before continuing your journey. Pass by the Temple of Apollo. A significant deity in ancient Greek religion, Apollo was the god of light, sun, poetry, music, the woodland and protector of Kourion.

Next, you will head to the ruins of Kourion (Curium), an impressive site which includes a Greco-Roman theatre built in the 2nd century BC, still used for performances today and doubling up as a viewpoint for sea views. Before returning to Limassol port, your last photo stop will be at the 12th-century Kolossi Castle. Here, your guide will explain how it served as the Grande Commanderie of the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St John before coming under the domain of the Knights Templar in the 14th century. Then it is time to head back to Limassol port to your awaiting ship.

Soak up the Aegean beauty of Rhodes on this leisurely excursion past some of its most dramatic vistas. Begin with a drive along the island's east coast through lush vineyards and fertile olive groves. In Lindos, make a photo stop to take in its cluster of whitewashed houses hugging the shore, the rocky outcropping and the acropolis overlooking the maritime scene.

Later, you will view the small fishing harbour of Psarto where St Paul is said to have landed on the island. Making a final stop at Monte Smith, the site of the acropolis of ancient Rhodes, summarise your tour with sweeping views over the city and the sea.

Leave the pier and start your tour by driving towards Monte Pellegrino, the mountain that dominates Palermo and from which you will see the beautiful panorama of the town.

Since the end of the 15th century, the city of Cádiz has provided a gateway to the New World. Throughout this panoramic tour, you will be met by several sights including the cathedral, city walls, Genovese Park and Alameda de Apodaca. You will also see some of the settlements surrounding Cadiz such as La Cortadura, San Fernando and Puerto Real before returning to the port.

Stroll around the Alameda Gardens before capturing views of The Gibraltar Rock on a scenic cable car ride. This tour will also take you to delight in the collection of plants at Alameda Gardens, which are an important conservation project.

First, join your guide who will point out the various plants, sights and wildlife whilst also describing its rich history as you wander around the grounds. Gibraltar’s cable car is the territory’s only purpose-built tourist attraction, and you then have the chance to ride up to the very top of the Rock.

Enjoy free time to wander around the many terraces and capture the views of the city of Gibraltar to the west and the coastline of Africa to the south. After your tour, a shuttle service will take you straight back to the ship, or you may prefer to be dropped off in the Irish town pedestrian area to explore the many shops.

Alternatively, relax in a pub or cafe, before making your own way back to the ship.

Learn about Gibraltar's unique wartime history on this tour. Begin by travelling past the British/Spanish Land Frontier. Your first stop is Europa Point, site of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Britain, where you can savour dramatic views of the Atlantic merging with the Mediterranean.

Next you will be taken to the nature reserve, home of the Northern Defences Sector, where you might be able to catch a glimpse of Gibraltar’s most famous residents, the mischievous Barbary apes. This tour involves walking of up to approximately three-quarters-of-a-mile lasting around 45 minutes with a steep incline of 450 yards on the way out of the tunnels. There are some low ceilings in the tunnels.

Go in search of dolphins and other marine life on this aquatic-creature based boat trip. Gibraltar’s bay boasts three species of dolphin and seven species of whale, as well as sunfish, flying fish and turtles. After departing from your ship, take the short drive to the ‘Dolphin World’ pleasure cruiser.

Then, after setting off into the bay, learn about the history of this tiny colony, and you will be given an insight into the marine life of the bay with a running commentary from your guide.

After landing, return transport will be available back to the ship, or if there’s enough time, you can choose to walk into town for shopping and a little independent exploration.

We recommend that you take some warm clothing for the boat ride. This excursion involves up to 280 yards of walking to reach the vessel and a couple of steps to board the vessel unassisted. From the quayside, travel north towards Gibraltar’s unique airport runway to the border between this small British Overseas territory and Spain. Proceed along the outskirts of town, passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point.

After a panoramic tour, you will be dropped off in front of the Bristol Hotel in Main Street, where you will be greeted by the Distillery Manager who will walk you to the venue. Explore the mysteries of the ancient Tarxien Temples and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hagar Qim. Travel by coach to Malta’s southern town of Tarxien to visit its famous temples. Discovered by farmers in 1913, the Tarxien Temples date back to 3150 BC and offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Malta's prehistoric civilisation.

The journey continues to the equally impressive Hagar Qim. These megalithic structures date back 6,000 years, predating the pyramids of Egypt and making them among the most ancient sacred sites on Earth. Start your visit with a short audio-visual presentation in the visitor centre.

Then proceed to the Hagar Qim Temples. The purpose of these mysterious structures is the subject of much debate. With a guide you will proceed to view the Mnajdra Temples – perhaps the best preserved and most evocative of Malta’s prehistoric sites. Your tour continues with a scenic drive along the scenic Dingli Cliffs, offering a panoramic view of Malta's rugged coastline. The journey includes a stop at Ghar Lapsi, where you can disembark, wander at your leisure, and capture photos of this serene coastal setting before making your way back to the ship.

Enjoy a scenic ride from Valletta through the pretty towns and villages of Malta to Mdina. Known as the ‘Silent City’, it is the former capital of Malta and one of the finest ancient walled cities in the world. Walk through part of it and see the many handsome buildings and narrow streets, palaces and museums.

You first visit the Baroque Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, rebuilt at the end of the 17th century, and then continue to the bastions for a panoramic view of the island. Next, travel to Mosta Square, admiring the Mosta Dome which crowns the Church of the Assumption. During World War Two, a shell penetrated the dome but landed unexploded on the church floor. Spend some time here and see a replica of the bomb, which is housed inside, before returning to the ship.

Take the scenic route to Malta's old capital, Mdina, which is one of the world's finest examples of a living medieval city. Stroll through the narrow streets and let your guide introduce you to its history. From the bastions, enjoy a fantastic view over the valley and the surrounding areas.

Leaving Mdina, travel by coach to Valletta, the present-day capital. Walk to St John's Co-Cathedral and view this lovely building from the outside, and also see the exterior of the Grand Master's Palace. Continue past the Auberge de Castille, your last stop is at the Barrakka Gardens, located on the highest point of the 16th-century walls.

Visit three of Malta’s Gardens, Barrakka Gardens, St Anton Gardens and Buskett Gardens. Your tour starts by exploring the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, renowned for its history, scenery and surroundings. Located on the upper tier of St Peter & Paul Bastion, which was built in the 1560s, here you can admire a panoramic view of the Grand Harbour and the surrounding landscape.

Next, drive to St Anton Gardens, which surround San Anton Palace – the official residence of the President of Malta. These elegant gardens date to the 17th century when each visitor would gift a new plant to the garden’s collection. During your visit take in the array of ancient trees, some of which are more than 300 years old.

Enjoy a soft refreshment before continuing to Buskett Woodlands, one of Malta’s few woodland areas, and an oasis of greenery dedicated to preserving the endemic flora and fauna. Planted by the Knights of Malta, the Buskett Gardens form part of the Verdala Palace, another official residence of the President of Malta. Enjoy your visit here before your return coach journey to the port.

The last divided capital city in the world, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, is the historic city of Nicosia which you’ll visit during this tour in Cyprus. Packed with a rich past, this capital of the island has been circled by its old city walls and has been home to twisting, medieval streets since the 11th century.

At the start of your tour, you’ll be able to pay a visit to St John’s Cathedral, built in 1662 by the Archbishop Nikiforos. Here, you can admire the 18th-century frescoes embellishing the walls, depicting colourful biblical scenes. The most significant collection of Cypriot antiquities is housed at the Cyprus Archaeological Museum nearby, built in a classical British style. Uncover its treasures including artefacts dating from the Neolithic Age and early Byzantine period. Ceramics, tomb monuments, bronze statues, and coins that span over 5000 years of the island’s history are on display; perhaps the most famous exhibit is the statue of Aphrodite form Soli – now the symbol of Cyprus.

After your visit, you will be guided to the Green Line checkpoint at Ledra Street from where you will have the opportunity to gaze at the occupied half of Nicosia and the northern territory of Cyprus.

Then continue through the impressive Venetian Walls, encircling the old city, via Paphos Gate. In this historic hub, you can take some time to enjoy a light lunch and shopping before returning to Limassol Port.

Your day starts with a visit to the well-preserved Kolossi Castle, built in the 13th century by the crusaders and still standing tall today with its imposing three stories. After the fall of Acre in 1291, it served as the Grand Commandery of the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, and in the 14th century came under the domain of the Knights Templar. During their stay in Cyprus, the Knights produced and exported a sweet wine, which became known as the ‘vin de Commanderie’. Today, Commandaria wine is one of the island’s traditional wines and one of the oldest named wines in the world, having had the same name for eight centuries.

Next, enjoy a short drive to the ancient ruins of Kourion city, a Greco-Roman site – home to the remaining pavement mosaics preserved as a four-panel design in the central room at the House of Eustolios. Nearby is the Greco-Roman theatre built in the 2nd century BC, still used today for performances, including ancient drama. From this spot perched high on a cliff, you can take in the view of the ruins and sea below. Afterwards, continue to your next stop, the Temple of Apollo. Apollo, a significant deity of ancient Greek religion, was considered to be the God of light, sun, poetry, music, woodland and the protector of the city of Kourion. The sanctuary of Apollo is the largest and one of the most important religious centres on the Island.

Following your visit make the transfer back to Limassol Port.

Departing from the ship by coach, drive through vineyards, orchards and fragrant pine forests up into the Pitsilia region of the Troodos range. Pass beneath the shadow of Mount Olympus, the highest peak in the Troodos range, and explore the Byzantine Churches of Archangelos, Ayios Nicolaos Tis Stegis and the Church of the Panayia (Virgin Mary) at Galata. Kakopetria is a picturesque mountain village built and maintained to this day in a traditional style of local wood and stone.

Enjoy some free time to walk through the traditional village and the opportunity to shop for local and international merchandise, including jewellery, leather goods, souvenirs, clothing and local artefacts. The tour ends with your coach transfer to Limassol Port.

Spanning vast meadows, orchards and thick forests filled with birdlife, the landscapes of the Troodos Mountains are ever changing, and there is no better way to explore them than by 4x4.

The day starts with a journey to the impressive Kouris Dam, the largest dam in Cyprus. Stop for a moment to take in the view before continuing to Lofou Village. Here, enjoy a walk through the local streets and visit a traditional cafe called a kafenion, where you can try a Cyprian coffee.

Reboarding your 4x4, head to the Millomeris Waterfall to catch a glimpse of the dramatic natural wonder cascading down a rocky cliff from 20 metres. Then it is time to stop at a local winery, where you can sample some of their delicious wines. The tour continues through the Mesa Potamos forest as you trace the river upstream. Visit the charming Old Town of Larnaca to soak up local culture, history and tradtional crafts with a visit to a basketry workshop.

The day begins in the heart of Larnaca Old Town, where you will visit the early 10th-century stone church of Agios Lazaros. Enjoy a stroll around the narrow streets of the old town and stop for a while at a local cafe for some fresh home-made lemonade.

Next, you will head to Choirokoitia village and visit the basketry workshop of Petros Nikolaou, who learnt the craft in this very space from his grandparents. Petros will share his interesting story and demonstrate the traditional basket weaving art. You will also enjoy a demonstration and tasting of halloumi cheese made in a talari basket that will be served together with local bread.

Journey deep inside Cyprus’ last undeveloped coastal frontier, the wild Akamas Peninsula. Discover the “must-see” sites: The Avakas Gorge, Lara and the Turtle Conservation Project and the Baths of Aphrodite. This excursion also includes sections of “off-road” driving. Dust and bumps are part of the journey, but the drivers are specially trained to go slow and steady and allow many rest stops throughout the tour. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture ever-lasting memories of the surrounding landscapes and wildlife. Your day ends with a transfer to Paphos Port.

After a short photo stop, drive through the small harbour town of Paphos, then travel north to visit the underground Tombs of the Kings, the necropolis of Paphos, which dates back to the third century BC and features open peristyle courts surrounded by burial chambers. Next, visit the House of Dionysos, to see the famous mosaics unearthed during the excavation of a Roman nobleman’s villa from the third century AD. This extensive complex of buildings is fitted with beautiful mosaic floors depicting Roman legends and characters, but mostly representing scenes from Greek mythology.

Legend tells that the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite used to bathe in the waters here, shaded by an old fig tree.

After, you will travel by coach to Agios Neophytos Monastery, which has a secluded setting in the heart of a picturesque valley. Stop to see the hermit’s carved cave, known as the ‘Enkleistra’, which is covered with fine examples of Byzantine frescoes, some of which date back to the 12th century. Discover the delicious world of Cypriot Wines on a tour to wineries in the Paphos region. Leaving the port behind, the first location of the day is Vouni Panayia Winery. First established in 1987, here you can sample wine that is made with grape varieties indigenous to the region. Continue onwards to Sterna Winery, the small local winery with traditional roots focuses on the very latest production methods. After a tour of the museum, enjoy a wine tasting and some light snacks.

The last stop of the day is Vasilikon Winery, located in Kathikas Village, which is one of the first local wineries of Cyprus. Vasilikon winery is committed to producing estate grown wines of the highest caliber and distinction. Spread across 16 hectares of vineyards, the winery produces 350,000 bottles annually, each expressing the unique terroir of the property. This tour takes you to Antalya’s two main treasures, starting with the Kursunlu Waterfall. Tumbling over a wall of moss-covered rock into a clear natural pond, Kursunlu Waterfalls are set inside a forested natural park. Your next stop will be Perge. Perge was originally settled by the Hittites around 1500 BC and St Paul gave some of his first preaches here. Perge is also known as the birth-place of the famous mathematician Apollonius, author of a treatise on geometry.

This breathtaking 10-minute journey by cable car takes you to an elevation of 7,757 feet above sea level where you can enjoy views over Antalya. You’ll also see snow-capped mountains including Mount Tantali and Mount Olympos - the highest mountain on the Turkish Riviera, and one of the highest of the Toros Mountain range, which covers large parts of southern Turkey.

When you return to sea level, you’ll discover the ancient ruins of the Lycian town of Phaselis, located between the Bey Mountains and the forests of Olympos National Park. Phaselis is a combination of ancient remains with a forest surrounded by sea, with trade links stretching as far as Egypt. One of the best-preserved ancient structures on the site is the Roman aqueduct, which runs alongside the bay by the north port. There are a number of mosaics which can be seen in the Roman public baths, as well as a basilica dating from the Byzantine period in the sixth century AD. You can also see a second century AD theatre which used to accommodate up to 1,500 people. A small museum can be found within the Phaselis Archaeological Site and showcases a number of artefacts found amongst the ruins.

Highlights of your trip to the site will include the Great Palace, the House of the High Priest and the Small Palace.

From here you can capture a view of Spinalonga, a small island once used as a leper colony. After a short photo stop, the tour returns to Heraklion.

After your visit to the palace, delve deeper into the island's ancient history with a guided tour of Heraklion Archaeological Musuem. Reboard your coach and continue to the Agios Myronas, a charming village situated 20 kilometres southwest of Heraklion known for its historical roots dating back to the third and fourth centuries. Stop in the main square for 45 minutes and enjoy some local refreshments whilst taking in the atmosphere.

After your visit, return to Heraklion by coach.

Visit the ancient site of Segesta where a guided tour will reveal the Temple and the Greek Theatre. Drive west through scenic countryside to the enigmatic ancient site of Segesta, on the summit of Monte Bàrbaro, about 1,000 feet above sea level. Now uninhabited, this was once a major city of the Elymian people, who according to legend were descended from the Trojans.

A Greek colony in the sixth century BC, Segesta later came under Roman control but was gradually abandoned in favour of the port city of Castellammare and was finally destroyed by the Saracens in AD1000. The site is most famous for its beautiful Greek temple, one of the best-preserved of all surviving ancient temples. Dating from the fifth century BC, it is nearly 200 feet long and about 85 feet wide, with 14 Doric columns on each side and 6 across the front and back. The temple appears never to have been finished: it has no evidence of ever being roofed, and its columns are not fluted.

From the temple, a local shuttle-bus takes you uphill to the Greek theatre, carved in a semicircle from the hillside, its rows of stone seats enjoying wonderful views over the surrounding valleys. Near the theatre you can see the ruins of an Arab mosque, a Romanesque church and a Norman castle, as well as the remains of other ancient buildings that still await excavation. Segesta owes its fame to its stunning location and to the fact that the old city has never been built over in modern times.

After time at the Visitors’ Centre, you rejoin your coach for the journey back to the port, enjoying a short orientation tour of Palermo on the way.

After disembarking, you will start your drive through the crowded, picturesque streets of the ancient town. Its unique Byzantin-Saracen-Norman architecture is a fascinating amalgam of this rich and remarkably diverse heritage. Your first stop will be made at the Palatine chapel. The chapel is well known for its gold and coloured mosaics and the intricately carved candelabrum and ceiling. The building today is the seat of the Sicilian government.

You will then travel outside Palermo to Monreale for a visit to the famous cathedral, said to be the most beautiful Norman church in Italy and completed by William the Good in 1174. With its thick walls and powerful towers, Monreale’s exterior looks like an austere fortress. It is the interior of this great cathedral which is its crowning glory. The large nave with its side aisles and grey granite columns set off the exquisite Byzantine mosaics on the walls above the arches.

After a brief period of free time return to coach and drive back to the ship.

The 17th-century catacombs, created for Palermo’s Capuchin monks, have been variously described as ‘the place where the living meet the dead’, and, a little less tactfully, ‘a bone-chilling experience’. When those in the brotherhood died, space for their burial was a major concern: the first cemetery was filled, and a second mass grave was created – also reaching capacity in 1697. Realising that the ancient caves beneath the monastery would provide a suitable space, the already-buried brothers were exhumed with the intention of re-burying them in the caves.

However, something miraculous had happened: despite the passing of more than two years, 45 bodies had been perfectly preserved. This act of natural mummification was declared a miracle and the brothers’ bodies were displayed as once-living relics. Between the 17th and 20th centuries almost 8,000 people were buried in the catacombs: wealthy citizens, celebrities, children and professionals were allowed to be buried alongside friars and other religious men. What once was a private cemetery of friars became a museum of death.

Upon arrival at the site, walk along its corridors and learn the names of those displayed in its niches and coffins: Rosalia Lombardo, for example, who became the final entombed resident in 1920 and is nicknamed ‘Sleeping Beauty’, due to her immaculate preservation. Following your visit – and perhaps thankful for the natural light and fresh air – you then embark on a panoramic tour of the city, past the circular Teatro Politeama, Piazza Pretoria and Palermo’s 12th-century cathedral.

You will stop for some free time outside Massimo Theatre, which opened its doors in 1897, before returning to your awaiting ship.

Begin with a drive to the ancient ruins of Carthage where, according to legend, the city was founded in 800 BC by the Phoenicians. It was from here that Hannibal began his march on Rome. Later, it was destroyed by the Romans in 146 BC and then founded again by Julius Caesar to eventually become the empire's second largest city outside Rome. Among these extensive remains you’ll find the impressive Baths of Antonius Pius, the amphitheatre, the Punic ports and the Roman cisterns.

Afterwards, enjoy a drive along the coast to the scenic village of Sidi Bou Said, set high on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Tunis. Its maze of cobbled streets with old stone steps makes it an atmospheric place to go for a stroll. Gleaming whitewashed walls are dotted with ornate, curved window grills that are a local trademark. There will be ample time to stroll and admire the typical architecture and local handicrafts, or to relax in one of the local tea houses with some refreshing mint tea before returning to the pier.

Discover Tunis on this introductory tour, which reveals both the old and new parts of the city. Accompanied by a local guide, start your tour by travelling down the famous boulevard of Avenue Habib Bourguiba, passing 19th-century St Vincent’s Cathedral and the art-noveau style theatre en route.

Then continue through the heart of the modern French-influenced city, arriving at the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you enjoy some time to explore and take photos. Next, your tour passes the ancient city of Carthage, where you have the opportunity to briefly visit Byrsa Hill, home of the National Museum of Carthage. Pause for a photo at St Louis Cathedral, built in 1890 on the site where French King Louis IX died in 1270.

Continue to Sidi-Bou-Saïd, a picturesque blue-and-white village overlooking the Bay of Tunis and famous for its handicrafts. Pass by the North-African American Cemetery and Memorial. A monument to the veterans who fell in combat during the North African campaign of World War Two the 27-acre cemetery is the final resting place for 2,841 U.S military personnel. Along the south-east edge of the burial area and bordering the tree-lined terrace is the Wall of the Missing. Engraved with 3,724 names, the wall commemorates those missing in action. Arriving at Sidi Bou Said, stop for refreshments before returning, through the residential district of La Goulette, to the port and the ship.

Explore the ancient city of Uthina and visit the Zriba Berber Village on this full-day tour. The excursion starts with a one-hour 4x4 drive to the archeological site of Uthina. Little is known about Uthina, but the city housed one of North Africa's largest Roman amphitheatres, used during the city's 2nd-century heyday, and it's still the biggest draw for today's traveller.

Enjoy a guided walk inside the archeological site and visit the restored Hadrian-era amphitheatre, which was dug into the hillside and could hold around 16,000 spectators. You'll also see the grand Capitole, pinned down on one side by five partially reconstructed columns, and the baths of the Laberii, which take their name from an inscription found on a mosaic of Orpheus, now in the Bardo Museum in Tunis. The nearby Fishing Angels Baths still features a fine semi-circular wall mosaic depicting cherubs casting nets into a fish-laden stream.

Next, reboard your 4x4 vehicle and drive to Zriba Olia, an abandoned Berber village, built in the 17th century, and abandoned in the 1960s. On arrival, you can explore the ruined buildings, before enjoying a traditional Berber lunch. Afterwards, rejoin your 4x4 vehicle for the return one-and-a-quarter hour drive to the pier.

Seville’s history is punctuated by peaks and troughs: golden ages and a great plague which wiped out half of the city’s population. Standing testament to both its past and present is the architecture awaiting your exploration on this tour, including the largest cathedral in the world and a palace fit for a ruler – several, in fact.

Upon arrival in Seville, start your excursion with a visit to Plaza de España – a semi-circular brick building overlooking a small canal, then continue with a drive Paseo de Colon where you will start your walking tour through the Santa Cruz Quarter. This enchanting neighbourhood, formerly the Jewish Quarter, is renowned for its charming squares.

Your walk continues towards Seville’s cathedral, a symbol of Christianity’s triumph over Islamic rule: after all, the Christian holy place was built on top of the Islamic one. Gaze up at the tall minaret which has been transformed into the cathedral’s belltower and, stepping inside the cathedral itself, you will find extraordinarily high vaulted ceilings, 80 chapels and Christopher Columbus’s tomb. Here, you will gaze at the golden altar piece, which was the lifework of Flemish craftsman Pierre Dancart, taking over 60 years to perfect!

You will then have the opportunity for some time at leisure, to explore or enjoy lunch locally before returning to the ship by coach.

Expect to walk approximately two miles across uneven surfaces with some steps. At the cathedral there are approximately 15 steps to negotiate. We recommend that you wear flat walking shoes. During peak periods, some areas may be crowded. A packed lunch can be supplied by the ship on request. The tickets for the cathedral must be purchased in advance, therefore this tour is non-refundable. The drive from the ship to Seville will take approximately 90 minutes each way.

On this excursion, visit the Fundador winery to discover the simple secret that brandy goes exceptionally well with chocolate. The winery was founded in 1730 and consists of several vineyards, a winemaking plant, ageing cellars and a bottling centre. During your exclusive time at the winery, you are invited to tour the museum to learn about Fundador, credited as being Spain’s first brandy, before a tasting of three brandies paired with three different chocolates.

On your return journey back to the port, you will enjoy a panoramic tour of Jerez and Cadiz.

Leaving the pier, you travel south past the town of Chiclana, now a popular golf centre and beach resort, and then head inland to Medina Sidonia, a very ancient hill town. Your journey takes you along part of the Ruta del Toro (Route of the Bull), and as you go deeper into the countryside, passing olive groves and villages of whitewashed houses, your guide will tell you about local agriculture and the history of bullfighting.

Arriving at Jerez de la Frontera, famous as the home of sherry, flamenco dancing and purebred Andalusian horses, enjoy a short walk in the town centre. After your guided walk, reboard your coach before your return journey to Cádiz. Here, your coach will take you on a short panoramic drive around the city centre.

There is approximately 650 yards of essential walking in Jerez de la Frontera. The drive to and from Jerez is approximately 45 minutes.

This tour starts with a panoramic drive around Cádiz, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain. The historic town centre is still surrounded by fortifications, dating mainly from the 18th century, and inside the walls it has changed little over the past 300 years: few buildings are more than three or four stories high, and the cathedral dome still dominates the city. Following your tour, proceed to a local ‘tablao’ – an Andalusian tavern – for an authentic flamenco performance.

Flamenco originated as the music of Spanish gypsies, incorporating both Western European and North African influences. Sit back and enjoy a traditional performance of its staccato, balletic dances, haunting ballads and fiery guitar music. While enjoying the music and dancing, you will be served wine and local ‘tapas’ – small plates of Serrano ham, cheese and Spanish omelettes. You can even try some flamenco dancing for yourself!

Following this cultural and gastronomic experience, your coach will take you back to the port.

Additional Information

You will need to walk at least 200 yards from the coach stop to the flamenco venue, and the same distance back again. This is partly over cobbled streets, so flat walking shoes are recommended. All other sights in the city are viewed from the coach.
