Discovering the magical land of fire and ice

Under a midnight sun, comb the icy waters off Reykjavik in search of whales.

Cruise Iceland aboard our small ship Saga Sapphire on a voyage to discover the stunning landscapes and wildlife of the island of fire and ice. As you circumnavigate this unique island, plying the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean, we treat you to five unforgettable berths, each with their own exceptional natural wonders and adventures. These include a 4x4 excursion to the volcanic moonscapes of the Krysuvik Geothermal Area; experiencing breathtaking panoramas from the 1,446-metre Snarfellsjokull glacier; spotting the 16 different species of seabird in the Siglufjordur and Búlandsnes bird sanctuary; completing a 3-hour hike of Fossardalur ‘Waterfall’ Valley; climbing deep into a lava cave system under the Snaefellsjokull Glacier; and hunting for the island’s largest population of elves in Bakkagerdi, known locally as ‘hidden people’.

Iceland is also one of the best locations in the world to watch whales, with eleven species of sea mammal including Minke, harbour porpoise, humpbacks and white-beaked dolphins, to spot on a tour lit by the midnight sun. To enrich all of these experiences we have a team of experts in volcanology, wildlife and science onboard and you can even assist a member of the ORCA conservation charity to map whale sightings on your trip.
