Combine the Dutch lowlands with traditional Germany
Enjoy an all-inclusive, 7-night river cruise along the diverse Dutch waterways and onto the Rhine. Embark Spirit of the Moselle in Rotterdam and cruise overnight to Hoorn, set beside the IJssel Lake and once home to the founders of the Dutch East India Company. This harbour town boasts many historic buildings as a result of its early seafaring wealth, some of which you can see during a walking tour. In Utrecht, visit the medieval heart of the city, which is overlooked by the 14th-century Domtoren bell tower. While Arnhem, known for its connection to one of the famous battles of World War Two and the subject of the epic war film A Bridge too Far can also be explored on a walking tour.
Continue onto the Rhine to discover Cologne’s medieval Old Town, with its churches, guilds and merchants houses, on a walking tour, or opt for a tour of UNESCO-listed Cologne Cathedral. Arrive Hoorn, 1300. Depart 1800. Arrive Utrecht, 0200.
The harbour town of Hoorn, beside the IJssel Lake, was once home to the founders of the Dutch East India Company. It boasts many historic buildings as a result of its early seafaring wealth. Notably the State Council building, which houses the Westfries Museum and its collection of ceramic tiles, silver, china and model ships.

The medieval heart of the Utrecht is overlooked by the 14th-century Domtoren bell tower. Opposite the tower on Domplein square is the Gothic Cathedral of St Martin. Each corner of the city hides a quirky museum, art gallery, little church or a view of the city’s network of canals.

The city’s main attraction is the twin-spired Gothic cathedral which dominates the skyline. There are also baroque palaces, medieval churches and a 16th-century City Hall. The cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town are home to characteristic churches and guilds.

Bonn was the capital of West Germany from 1949 until 1999. The key sights of this compact city, birthplace of famous composer Beethoven, include the Beethoven monument, Romanesque Minster Cathedral and the University of Bonn.

Arrive Koblenz, 1700.
This attractive little town is a new destination for Saga River Cruises. Its historic cobbled streets lead to the main Market Square, which is overlooked by 15th-century, half-timbered buildings. The 14th-century Castle of Linz sits on the river bank and, up until the early 18th century, was used for river toll collection.
