How our discounts work
On all cruises we set aside a number of cabins within each grade at a discounted fare, with the highest discount of 35% for ocean cruises and 25% for river cruises available on selected grades. These cabins are sold on a first come, first served basis. As cabins are sold, the discount begins to reduce, and continues to reduce until those selected cabins are sold. This means that the earlier you book, the higher the chance of securing a greater discount. Our price panels clearly show the full cruise price, along with the current discount fare. Please note: During busy periods for holiday bookings, the early booking discount can reduce rapidly. We recommend that you book early to benefit from the best booking discounts and to secure your preferred cabin and grade. When promoting new cruises for the first time, we contact customers on our Advanced Registration list first, allowing then to secure the cabin of their choice and benefit from the best savings. Our brochures are then sent out to loyalty club members first, followed by past cruise goers and then everyone else.-

Spirit of the Rhine

Depart Kelheim, 1900.
Travel to Kelheim and embark Spirit of the Rhine.

Arrive 1400. Depart 2200.
The Imperial Castle, Kaiserburg, dominates the skyline of this Bavarian city, which has undergone a great deal of restoration since it was heavily bombed in World War Two. In 1935 the Nazis built a stadium here in which they held their rallies and, later, Nazi war criminals were tried in Nuremberg by the Allies.
The artist Albrecht Durer lived here from 1509 to 1528 and his house is now a museum.

Arrive 0900. Depart 1300.
Bamberg was, like Rome, built on seven hills and because of its mixture of imposing architectural styles and baroque town houses is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its Imperial Cathedral is set on Cathedral Hill and Altenburg Castle is located at the town's highest point.
An included excursion here will reveal some of the main sights.

Arrive 0900. Depart 2000.
An important city in the Middle Ages, Würzburg features numerous baroque buildings erected by the prince-bishops of the Schönborn family in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Residence Palace, one of Europe’s most renowned baroque castles, was built here between 1720 and 1724 for the prince-bishop Johann Philipp Franz, who commissioned master builder Balthasar Neumann to create the 'palace of all palaces'.

Arrive 1400. Depart 2000.
The city of Aschaffenburg is set beside the Main river and is often referred to as 'Bavarian Nice' thanks to its lively cultural scene. The riverbank is dominated by the Renaissance Johannisburg Palace. It's a vast complex, with four wings and two towers, built from 1605 to 1614.
In the old quarter, on Theaterplatz square, is a fine neo-classical theatre, arcade and fountains. Nearby, there's a replica of a Roman villa discovered in Pompeii – the Pompejanum – commissioned by King Ludwig I and built between 1840-1848.

Arrive 1400. Depart 2000.
The Cathedral and Imperial City of Speyer is dominated by the UNESCO-listed Speyer Cathedral, built in the 11th century and a fine example of Romanesque architecture.
This morning an included excursion visits the home of Germany's oldest university, the city of Heidelberg. Highlights include the Old Bridge across the River Neckar and the ruined castle high above the city. Its unusual appearance is due to it having been added to through different periods of German architectural styles.

Arrive 0800. Depart 2200.
Kehl is located on the banks of the Rhine river, directly opposite the French city of Strasbourg. The elegant capital of Alsace, Strasbourg, features cobbled streets, medieval architecture and a Gothic cathedral with an astronomical clock.
See some of the highlights of the old quarter on an included excursion and cruise along the city’s scenic canals this morning. A complimentary shuttle service is available this afternoon should you wish to return to Strasbourg to explore independently.

Arrive 0800. Depart 2000.
Take our complimentary shuttle service into Breisach, an important medieval town of the Holy Roman Empire during the 16th century. It's overlooked by a 12th-century cathedral – St Stephansmünster – set high on a hilltop above. It's also known as a 'gateway to the Black Forest' and the Alsace.
Arrive, 0800.
Disembark Spirit of the Rhine and begin your return journey.
