Day 1 UK to Vienna to Dürnstein

Kuenringer Castle ruins overlooking Dürnstein

Fly to Vienna, where you’ll embark Spirit of the Danube and begin your cruise along the Danube to Dürnstein.

Enjoy dinner on board tonight.

Day 2 Dürnstein to Melk 🎧

Melk Abbey, Melk

Spend part of the morning in Dürnstein, set in the beautiful Wachau valley beneath the ruined Kuenringer Castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned during the late 12th century. An optional walking tour ensures you see the highlights.

Set sail to Melk where you'll have the opportunity to visit its Benedictine Abbey on an optional excursion.

Depart Melk during dinner and cruise through the night to Passau.

Day 3 Passau 🎧

Arrive in Passau this afternoon.

Enjoy the afternoon exploring the 'Venice of Bavaria', set at the meeting point of three rivers – the Danube, Inn and Ilz, and surrounded by wooded hills. Or, to make the most of your visit why not join an optional city walk and hear the history of this attractive town?

Spirit of the Danube departs late tonight.

Enjoy the morning exploring Linz independently.

Your ship departs during lunch and cruises overnight towards Bratislava.

Day 5 Bratislava 🎧

Bratislava, Slovakia

This morning you arrive in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava.

Spend the morning exploring the city’s old quarter, overlooked by the vast castle, and admiring the Hapsburg architecture on an included city tour. See the Gothic-style Cathedral, where eleven Kings of Hungary were crowned while Turks occupied their own capital.

This afternoon a choice of optional excursions includes beer tasting at the UFO observation tower or a visit to a Majolica Pottery workshop.

Day 6 Esztergom to Budapest

Esztergom, Hungary

Arrive in Esztergom before breakfast.

Arguably one of the most beautiful of the small towns on the Danube Bend, Esztergom is home to Hungary's largest basilica, the dome of which can be seen for miles. Perhaps explore here and the artistic community of Szentendre on an optional excursion.

Depart at lunchtime and cruise to Budapest, arriving early this evening.

Day 7 Budapest 🎧

Old Fisherman Bastion, Buda Castle, Budapest

Your ship remains moored in Budapest for a full day and overnight stay.

This cosmopolitan city is divided by the Danube into Buda and Pest. An included city tour reveals some of the city's highlights, from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Buda Castle that sits above the river on the west bank, to the Hungarian Parliament buildings in Pest on the east bank.

Alternatively, you can opt for an included excursion focused on Budapest’s food scene.

This afternoon a choice of optional excursion includes visits to Gödöllo Palace or the Lazar Equestrian Park Horse Farm.

Disembark your ship after breakfast and travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
