Embark on an all-inclusive cruise to the Caribbean in 2025, island hopping from one tropical paradise to another. En route, discover the natural beauty of Faial, one of the volcanic islands of the Azores before arriving at Antiqua, discovered by Columbus in 1493 and located at the ‘gateway to the Caribbean’.
Continue to St Barthélemy, with its pristine beaches, and St Kitts where the gauge railway, built originally for sugar cane transportation, is now used for scenic journeys across the island. Tortola has a fascinating history of pirate ambushes and is home to the highest volcanic peak of the Virgin Islands.
While Willemstad has a UNESCO-listed harbour and Dutch influences. Visit tropical St Lucia and Barbados where the capital Bridgetown features a historic Garrison, also included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Return via the Azores to explore the dramatic island of Sao Miguel with its crater lakes and bubbling fumeroles.

Set on Faial, one of the nine far-flung islands of the Azores, Horta is a popular port of call for pleasure yachts sailing across the Atlantic. Exposed tips of underwater volcanoes, the islands of the Azores are known for their natural beauty and whale and dolphin watching opportunities, as the waters that surround them are home to an array of species including blue and humpback whales and bottlenose dolphins.

The island has a sprinkling of churches and museums to discover, or you could join a trip to the Capelinhos volcano and the dramatic caldeira.

St John's, Antigua
Arrive 0800. Depart 1700.
Located at the ‘Gateway to the Caribbean’, Antigua has a rich history, having been discovered and named by Columbus in 1493. Admiral Nelson, was stationed here in the late 18th century, and his legacy is still evident today at English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gustavia ⚓, St Barthélemy

Clear skies and secret coves framed by pristine white-sand beaches make St Barthélemy a haven for the rich and famous. Once the haunt of French Buccaneers, Gustavia is now a shoppers’ paradise with upmarket shops overflowing with duty-free goods. The tiny capital is bookended by two 17th-century forts, Fort Karl and ruined Fort Gustaf. St Barthélemy Municipal Museum explores the island’s history while the ‘Wall House’ has antiques from its brief period of Swedish rule.

Sail the Leeward coast on a comfortable catamaran with opportunities to snorkel in the warm waters of the bay.

Basseterre, St Kitts

St Kitts was settled during the 1600s by the British and French, who established sugar plantations. Although the industry closed in 2005, a narrow gauge railway, which was originally built to transport sugar cane from the fields to the mills, still remains and offers journeys through the former plantations. St Kitts is home to a World Heritage Site, Brimstone Hill, which is crowned with a fortress constructed in 1690.

Road Town, Tortola
Arrive 0800. Depart 1700.
In the years after Columbus’ discovery, Tortola lured pirates like Blackbeard and Captain Kidd, who would ambush ships laden with the spoils of the successful sugar production trade.

Sample authentic rum at a traditional distillery, join a 4x4 drive around the island, or discover Sage Mountain National Park, home to the highest volcanic peak of the Virgin Islands offering sweeping views of the lush green park and islands beyond.

A Caribbean centre of trade, Willemstad was founded by Dutch colonists in 1634. The UNESCO-listed harbour and inner-city is a reflection of its European influences complete with waterways, pavement cafes and narrow-gabled, 18th-century houses in all manner of colours. The island’s sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing.

Take a guided tour of the Curacao Liqueur Distillery to discover the history of the blue drink from the region, or perhaps explore the limestone Hato Caves, home to long-nosed fruit bats, cave paintings, waterfalls and unusual rock formations.

Situated on the eastern edge of the Caribbean, St Lucia is cloaked in lush rainforest and famed for its iconic twin volcanic peaks, the Pitons.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Barbados offers a blend of West African and British culture, having remained a British colony until 1966. The island’s lively capital Bridgetown features 17th-century buildings and a historic Garrison, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Scattered in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores is made up of nine islands, and Ponta Delgada is the capital of the largest of these, Sao Miguel. Aptly known as ‘Green Island’, Sao Miguel is characterised by its volcanic landscapes – to the east lies geothermal Furnas Lake with its bubbling fumeroles and hot springs, while in the northwest the green and blue crater lakes of Sete Cidades are situated.
