Dundee is Scotland's sunniest city, boasting a wealth of shops, restaurants and museums. Perhaps take a stroll through the quirky neighbourhood of Broughty Ferry with its fantastic selection of shops and restaurants or discover Scotland’s oldest surviving medieval church tower, the Old Steeple. Dundee was also where Robert’s Scott’s Antarctic exploration vessel was built, the last three mast wooden tall ship to be made in Britain and you can tour the RRS Discover at Discovery Point.

Kirkwall is the capital of Orkney with the magnificent 12th-century St Magnus Cathedral at its heart. With individual and artisan shops, two ‘Palaces’ and the Orkney Museum there’s lots to see. Perhaps choose to go further afield and visit some of the island’s ancient sites.

Sturdy little Lerwick is the friendly capital of the 100 islands and islets of the Shetland Islands, which have a rich Viking heritage with a distinct dialect and culture from mainland Scotland. This windswept, sea-lashed archipelago is a lush green haven for birds and also offers some of Scotland's most stunning archaeological remains.

Cruise to the remote Faroe Islands where you can discover an unruly landscape of contorted, grass-clad mountains, jagged cliffs and wild seascapes.
