The Baltic

World-class art, architecture and history await in this enthralling destination

The Baltic – countries in Northern Europe such as Denmark, Estonia, Poland, Latvia, Sweden and Russia – is a melting pot of palaces, museums and incredible art and architecture, making it perfect for ‘culture vultures’.

Hop on one of our small ships and spend two weeks sailing around the region, choosing from a selection of varied and inspiring experiences. You could find yourself contrasting the Tsars’ treasures in Russia with the fairytale skyline of Tallinn, delving into the history of Gdansk or uncover the fascinating cities beside the Gulf of Bothnia… and that’s just the start!

Discover St Petersburg

Russia’s magnificent showcase city of vast squares, grand boulevards and elegant palaces, packed with treasures from the rein of the Tsars.

With so much to discover, we always moor our ships overnight in the city, giving you two full days to see it all. Best of all, book a Saga excursion and we’ll arrange your Russian tourist visa free of charge, taking away all the hassle of doing it yourself before you sail.

Take your seat at the ballet

Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a stirring ballet performance in one of St Petersburg’s old theatres. Beginning with an early evening drive from the ship and through the city’s boulevards, you’ll then take your seat for the performance from a renowned local ballet company.

A private tour of the Hermitage

We offer a special evening at the Hermitage in St Petersburg. This means you can tour the world’s largest museum out-of-hours, when the crowds have gone.

Better still, the experience ends with champagne and a classical music recital in one of the opulent halls.

Fairytale Tallinn

Heading ashore in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, offers a truly magical experience, like stepping back to medieval times.

The Upper Town is filled with watchtowers, graceful spires and winding cobbled streets, and the Lower Town by its red gabled roofs and soaring spires – giving the capital a unique ‘fairytale’ quality.

New Baltic ports for 2018

The Baltic is one of our most popular destinations, so our Cruise Planners have been on the road sourcing some brand new ports of call for 2018 – fantastic if you’re planning a return voyage. Step ashore on Kotka, Finland’s only island city, where you can try a thrilling rafting trip on the River Kymijoki rapids! Or why not discover Karlskrona in Sweden, a beautiful archipelago made up of 1,650 islands, skerries and islets.
