Arrecife

12th January, 2022

As we are all creatures of hobbits (see what I did there – Tolkien tribute?), a call to Arrecife means lunch ashore, always in the same tavern. I was first introduced to the Estrella Del Charco back in 2017 by our doctor Milija.

I went ashore just before noon. It took me 45 min of walking to get to the city centre. The tavern had reduced the original/pre-pandemic capacity with tables properly spread around. The owner recognised me and welcomed me back. I ordered the same dishes as always: calamari, garlic shrimps and tomato bruschetta. The garlic shrimp sauce was a combination of olive oil, lemon juice and white wine. That is where the bruschetta fulfilled its purpose. I ate the tomatoes together with the calamari and left the bread to soak the sauce. I felt garlic glowing from my pores. The amount of garlic was impressive.

The walk back took me a bit longer as I was properly stuffed, but the day was nice, warm and sunny so I took it slow and enjoyed the warmth. Just what I needed.

Kind Regards
Captain Franko Papić
