Sea Day
Saga Sapphire blog - Captains' blogs
31st August, 2019
What a difference a day makes…. It’s blowing a hoolie today! Just two days ago we were coming south, same place and it was a glorious summers day! The weather will be the weather, not a lot I can do about that; of course today is the last day of Meteorological Summer, Autumn starts tomorrow.
Regardless of the weather we are off on our Artic Norway cruises, aptly titled as we will be north of the Artic Circle for almost 50% of the cruise.
I need to watch my waistline, I dropped 1.5 stone in wright at home on leave, but can feel the influence of Frances, Executive Chef, already… oh no, all that hard work and dedication going down the swanny!
Anyway, back to our itinerary. Some super ports of call and a ‘first-time’ for Saga Sapphire, Kirkenes. A lovely little spot, I was there many years ago and it will be fab to take Saga Sapphire there on her inaugural call on Saturday 7th. Of course, the Explore Ashore options are quiet outstanding, hope my Guest have brought their winter woollies; it’s going to be around 6 degrees Celsius at the North Cape, just warming up for winter!
First port of call tomorrow, Bergen, with the reputation for being the wettest city in Norway, and the forecast tomorrow would support that, so I am setting my Guests expectations already.
Our lovely Welcome Cocktail party tonight, great mix of Guests including 104 first time with Saga.
See you in Bergen.
