Le Havre

Saga Sapphire blog - Captains' blogs

17th June, 2016

After another comfortable passage the last port of call this cruise, Le Havre, France, greeted us with rather gloomy weather. To our surprise shortly after lunchtime it cleared out and we could all enjoy a beautiful sunshine. Even the local pilot was surprised.

Le Havre is a very old city, largely destroyed during the Second World War is now the UNESCO World Heritage Site. With that in mind we prepare a wide selection of tours for our guests today: ‘Giverny and Monet’s Garden’ visit to Honfleur, very intriguing Deavuville (which included Calvados tasting) and for those who fancied it a walking tour of Le Havre. All very popular and well attended. For those remaining on board our cruises staff Liezel organized wide selection of games and quizzes. We should not forget about special chocolate afternoon tea, which I tried to avoid as may have not been able to resist. I guess, there was enough for everyone to keep them entertained.

This evening started with the Britannia Cocktail Party. 225 Britannia members got together with the officers and staff. So many stories filled the room as they enjoyed a couple of drinks before heading for dinner.

Farewell show from the Explosive Production was entitled “Magic Musicals” which featured a mixture of timeless classic and jukebox style musicals. Very much enjoyed by the guests especially that extra hour (due to the time difference) allowed them to stay much later than usual. So most stayed on to listen to Piano Entertainer, Mattias Eskilson in the Cooper’s Bar while the rest were at the Drawing Room with the Think Pink Duo.
