Casablanca, Morocco

Saga Sapphire blog - Captains' blogs

29th January, 2015

After 3 days at sea we were looking forward to our arrival in Port. I can say now that we had a very pleasant crossing of the Bay of Biscay on the way south. I had been to Casablanca only a few weeks previously, and it is a familiar port anyway. Out pilot boarded and we proceeded into our normal Berth.

Well the berth we normally use is a very tight squeeze for a ship of this size and it’s a bit like parking your car in a very tight cul-de-sac with not much room to get in. But these are the manoeuvres I like! Anyway all went well and we were all fast by 8:00am.

There were four excursions today of which three were in the morning; the first was “A night in Marrakech”; the second was the Casablanca City Tour, which was the most popular excursion; then Local Flavours . This afternoon’s excursion was to the Hassan II Mosque.

On sailaway I asked the Staff Captain Kosta to take the ship away for his further training and development, and he did very well.

The main entertainment this evening featured three leading men of West End, bringing back the sounds of the 40’s and the 50’s with their show “The Rat Pack Returns”. This was followed by the SAGA Orchestra for dancing and listening pleasure while, in Coopers Bar, Martin played requests from our lovely guests.
