Southampton, England.

Saga Sapphire docked in Southampton at 8:00am this morning which marked the end of this 15 night ‘In Awe of the Northern Lights’ cruise. We certainly did see some spectacular displays of the Northern Lights and I hope that passengers will take away some wonderful memories of the exciting activities and spectacular sights that we encountered. We said farewell to our passengers and the ship’s company set to work preparing for the next cruise.

Embarkation began at 1:00pm with the housekeeping Department and Cruise Team on hand to welcome passengers on board. Once they had been shown to their cabins, passengers could make their way to the Britannia Lounge for a special Embarkation Afternoon Tea – just a taster of the delicious food that is in store for the upcoming 16 nights. Saga Sapphire embarked on this ‘Magic of the Northern Lights’ cruise and set sail for IJmuiden in the Netherlands a distance of 266 nautical miles.

Passengers were able to spend a bit more time unpacking and settling in, however it wasn’t long before it was time for the next meal. The Food and Beverage Team welcomed passengers to either our Pole to Pole or Verandah Restaurants for dinner, prepared by our Executive Chef Thierry Cherronet and his team.

After dinner, there was a variety of entertainment for passengers to enjoy. At 8:45pm, Social Hostess Nicola was Quiz Mistress in tonight’s general knowledge quiz and at 9:30pm, Cruise Director Jonathan introduced our Explosive Production Singers and Dancers to the stage to perform their glitzy show entitled ‘Let’s Swing’ A journey through the greatest hits, both old and modern, from legendary swing artists.

After Showtime many passengers retired to their cabins to get some rest after a very busy embarkation day. Passengers will be able to spend a relaxing morning at sea before our arrival in IJmuiden tomorrow afternoon.
