Kalvag

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

26th February, 2018

A nice seaday yesterday on our journey to more southern regions. Guests had a busy day with loads of great activities throughout the day, combined with yummy food :). Our showtime brought Sean Alexander to the stage and his show was much enjoyed by his audience as he’s a very good Mind Illusionist and Magician.

At 7:30am on Monday we picked up our Kalvag pilot for our short 6 mile journey to the berth. A little windier today but we are so excited to be here as it is a new port. We made our approach into the harbour and took a wide turn by the berth and came starboard side alongside. As we were mooring the ship we were greeted by a local group of singers and the school children came to visit – toot toot on the whistle was returned!!!

Many guests very keen to go and explore today and the local community made us feel very welcome with shops and houses open in the village. Kalvag sits at the entrance of the Nordfjord and has a predominant fishing village feel, but it is really untouched and embodies all the charm of Norway.

All our guests adored Kalvag and I hope we return here. We even had the Norwegian TV cameras on the ship and I did an interview to go out on TV – I knew I would be on TV eventually!!!!

5:30pm and time to leave this great place. Take care Kalvag and we all hope to see you soon. Next stop Portsmouth – I cannot believe it is that time already!!
