This small has a historic market square lined by medieval houses and decorated with a 17th-century fountain. On a hilltop above the town stand the ruins of Landshut Castle, the one-time seat of the Bishops of Trier.
Cochem, Germany
Cochem enjoys a scenic overlooked by the neo-Gothic Reichsburg Castle, which crowns a hill cloaked entirely in vines. The town’s other historic architectural gems include a baroque Town Hall backed by a maze of streets and a quaint market square.

Travel by coach into central Trier. See the ancient Roman Bridge and the 'Moselle cranes', which were built in the 14th century to aid with loading the cargo into the ships using the river. Then, join a guided tour on foot to see the well-preserved Roman gate, the UNESCO-listed Porta Nigra, as well as the quaint Market Square, Cathedral and Church of Our Lady.

Transfer by coach to Bernkastel-Kues and spend a morning in this pretty Moselle town. Among the sights are the St Nikolaus Hospital, the parish church of St Michael with its Gothic slate tower, and the historic market square in the old town, which is lined with historic half-timbered houses. Enjoy time to explore independently and take a trip on the Land Train, passing the scenery of the Moselle cultural landscape as you journey through Bernkastel-Kues.
A tour of Reichsburg Castle, a walking tour of Cochem and Wine Tasting
Journey by minibus up the hillside to Reichsburg Castle to learn about its colourful history and enjoy the view of the Moselle valley and river below. The castle visit is accompanied by a guide who will explore its rescue and restoration into a grand 19th-century neo-Gothic wonder. Today, it is a showcase for Renaissance and Baroque furniture. Explore the rooms before heading down to the town for a short, guided walk. This will take you to a local vineyard and winery for an introductory talk on the production of wine, finishing with a tasting.
