28/04/2023 Prague to Bad Schandau to Dresden

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and spend the morning on an included excursion to the Sandstone Mountains.
The National Park of Saxon Switzerland, south-east of Dresden, is characterised by rock formations sculpted by erosion, sandstone cliffs, deep valleys and rugged gorges. Around three-quarters of this landscape, unique in central Europe, is in south-eastern Germany with the rest in north Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The Elbe river winds through the mountains in a steep and narrow valley.
Then, transfer to the port in Bad Schandau, where you will embark MS Johannes Brahms and begin your cruise to Dresden, arriving this evening and mooring here overnight.
Enjoy dinner on board.

This morning you can join an included tour of the city.
Dresden's distinctive skyline has been admired and captured by many great artists, including Canaletto. In February 1945 the city was reduced to rubble when British and American bombers dropped explosives during World War Two, it has since been sensitively restored and many of the most important landmarks rebuilt.
Your ship will remain moored here overnight.
30/04/2023 Dresden to Meissen

This morning you may like to visit infamous Colditz Castle on an optional excursion, returning to Meissen for lunch on board.
In the afternoon you can explore the world-famous porcelain factory on an optional visit. Europe’s first white porcelain was produced in Dresden in 1708 meaning it no longer had to be imported from China at great expense. But in 1710 the factory was moved to Meissen, where it was easier to protect the secret processes.
You can also admire a castle straight out of a fairy tale, an historic cathedral, and panoramic views over the Elbe Valley.
01/05/2023 Meissen to Wittenberg

Set sail in the early hours and cruise through the morning to arrive in Wittenberg after lunch.
This afternoon go exploring in the historic home town of the preacher Martin Luther where he nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church, setting in motion the Protestant Reformation. Learn more on an included guided walk which visits the vast UNESCO-listed Market Square, which has a bronze statue of Luther.
Remain moored here overnight.

Spend a relaxing morning on board as your ship sails to Magdeburg, one of the most historically important cities in Europe, and home to the first Holy Roman Emperor, Otto I. He and his wife are buried in the Cathedral of Saints Catherine and Maurice.

The city’s main sights include Checkpoint Charlie, the infamous crossing point of the Berlin Wall and a lasting reminder of the Cold War, and Brandenburg Gate, formerly a representation of the separation between East and West Berlin.
Now, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, this classical structure is perceived as a symbol of unity within the city. There are numerous palaces across the city, the largest being Charlottenburg Palace, and around 50 museums, housing everything from ancient sculptures and modern art to magic and motorcycles!
