Chase the Aurora Borealis through Norway’s winter wonderlands

“With a log burner crackling at the end of my comfy bed and the Northern Lights flickering outside, I didn’t want the night to ever end.

Shore Excursion Purchasing Executive Michelle McDermott.

Norway is the perfect stage on which to witness the magical dance of the Northern Lights. On pristine sets of Arctic tundra, frozen lakes and twinkling eiderdowns of fresh snow you will feel that these ethereal recitals of light are played out just for you. This magical winter cruise on our small ship Saga Sapphire opens up a world of winter adventure that before the experience you could only imagine existed in the movies.

Here, you can drive a traditional Sami sled pulled by reindeer or marshal a pack of huskies in the twilight; walk the streets of a frosty Art Nouveau city, where steamy windows hide snug retreats of refreshment and cheer and skim the raging Atlantic Ocean on a road described as one of the most beautiful journeys in the world; or just snuggle up in front of a log fire, on a bed of furs, watching the passage of the night sky from your modern Sami Lavvu tent. From the wintery island town of Kristiansund, where opera is a way of life, to the frozen wilds of Alta, where the folds of steel and glass of the Northern Lights Cathedral mirror the ever-changing mood of the Arctic Circle, this Norwegian cruise promises to be a true voyage of discovery.
