Enjoy the relaxed ambience of the tropical Caribbean
Set sail on a springtime cruise to the Caribbean in 2028 visiting one tropical island after another. Pause to admire the floral charms of Madeira, enjoying the facilities and entertainment on board Spirit of Discovery as you cruise across the Atlantic and into the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean islands flawlessly fit the popular notion of a tropical paradise… incredible natural beauty and a relaxed rhythm of life. No more so than Barbados, where an overnight visit gives you time to explore the swaying palms of the Tropical Garden Barbados and perhaps watch a mesmerising sunset on an optional boat trip. Island hop to St Lucia, whose iconic skyline is dominated by the volcanic Pitons, and on to Antigua and St Kitts, with their tropical rainforests.
Then, following a relaxing sea day, cruise to the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire, a new port of call for our Spirit ships. As well as their distinctly Dutch culture and architecture, the islands are also popular for their prisitine beaches, world-class snorkelling and vibrant flora and fauna. Your Caribbean adventure concludes with a visit to the ‘Isle of Spice’, Grenada, known for its abundance of nutmeg and cinnamon. On the return journey, Spirit of Discovery will stop at Sao Miguel in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Aptly known as ‘Green Island’, Sao Miguel is characterised by its volcanic landscapes – to the east lies geothermal Furnas Lake with its bubbling fumeroles and hot springs, while in the northwest the green and blue crater lakes of Sete Cidades are situated.
