Brest, France
A bit of an early start this morning at 6am when we picked our pilot up, bit of morning mist as well. But as soon as the sun glimmered above the horizon the mists began to clear and it looked to be a nice day in Brest. We turned the vessel upon arrival and backed up to our berth. 8am and we were ready to rock and roll, with lots of Saganauts ready to go ashore and explore. At 11am today we had our Plaque Ceremony, this is always conducted when a ship arrives in a port for the first time – so we have lots of these ceremonies to do in the coming months!!
Weather was sunny today, a little Atlantic breeze which is always nice as a cooling effect. Many guests on tour today, enjoying our explore ashore program and variety. Fantastic to have your lunch al-fresco style on the aft open deck behind the grill, basking in the sun and with fantastic views.
5pm and time to leave. The Staff Captain supervised the pilot disembarking and I proceeded to the Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party – which was very well attended by all our guests and officers. We were treated to a fantastic gala dinner in the Grand Dining room afterwards with fantastic food and service in the Grill and our speciality restaurants – well done team for a great evening.
Next stop Portland on this great cruise…
