Lisbon

19th April, 2023

A couple of beautiful, sunny and delightfully warm days at sea were spent passing through the western Med and out into the Atlantic. Our days at sea are packed with activities & entertainment, for those who are not content with relaxing by the pool or devouring treats in the Living Room, for example.

Celebrity TV personality & chef Kevin Woodford joined us this cruise, and invited me to join him for his traditional “Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook” show he hosted in the Theatre on Tuesday. Our Cruise Director, Jo was also invited to partake, as my competitor. I was, and am still not sure, which of us was “can’t” and which was “won’t”. Suffice to say there were a significant amount of chuckles emanating from the audience, in particular when I managed somehow to set my pan on fire prematurely upon assumedly being asked to flambé some lamb…

Wednesday saw us visit our final port for this cruise, Lisbon. Summery temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius ensured that this was a fantastic day for all, whether exploring the city by foot, tram or tuc-tuc – as just a select few of our various excursions offered.

Thereafter followed a few more days relaxing upon a nice calm sea, returning to old Blighty. Early on Saturday morning we passed through Portsmouth Harbour heads and his Majesty’s Naval Dockyard at around 06:00, before backing down to tie up on our allocated berth near the cruise terminal.

And so ended our recent eastern Mediterranean adventure, having steamed a total of 6,534.4 nautical miles.

Kind Regards
Captain Kim Tanner
