Burn's Night
Robbie Burns’ birthday did not go uncelebrated. Following the Scottish tradition, on January 25th a gathering was held in the Britannia Lounge and I must say it was an amazing sight. Our guests were very handsome in their formal attire, some had even brought their kilts with them. The Britannia Lounge band played Scottish favourites from traditional jigs to ‘500 miles’ by ‘The Proclaimers’.
While dinner was being prepared for service in the dining room, guests in the Britannia Lounge were greeted by the sound of bagpipes. The festivities were kicked off with a welcome from our Hotel General Manager and our Cruise Director, and guests were treated to a special ‘uisce beatha’ based cocktail, named for the poet himself, which was warmly received. Scottish dancing compliments of our entertainment team was on display, and by the time the event was winding down and guests were on their way to dinner, a respectable memoriam to Rabbie Burns had been held on Spirit of Adventure.
