Southampton

Here we are, off to the Caribbean. Expectations of winter sun are very high….

But just to finish last cruise, Canaries Christmas cheer.. we had three good days running up from Madeira; even the Biscay behaved with a long low swell in from the Atlantic just gently rocking the ship.

We came in through the Needles, the west end of the Isle of Wight,  this morning and berthed in Southampton at 0800.   A lot of calories had been consumed on this cruise and I am quite sure most of my Guests were looking forward to some ‘simple’ fayre at home.

Yes, another great cruise, completed. I wonder if I will be onboard for next Christmas or at home in front of the fire with my dogs?

Talking of dogs, I have just had a WhatsApp video message from Leigh, who is now at home having collected the dogs from the kennels’, it’s good to know the ‘family’ is in good order.

The Caribbean, here we come. Retracing our steps of this morning,  we routed out passed the Needles this evening, it’s the shortest way out to the Atlantic and I needed to save time. We had a late departure form Southampton and it was a fast ‘run’ to Funchal, our first stop.

The provisional forecast was looking  moderate to good, although I was already watching the swell conditions mid-Atlantic, it is that time of year. It should be a great cruise, lots of sea-days and ten Caribbean ports of call; bring on that sunshine!
