El Ferrol

It’s a morning sea day for our guests as they wait until we arrive into the final port of call this cruise, El Ferrol. It’s been a busy morning for most with interesting lectures from BBC Gardening Presenter Steve Brookes and Maritime Historian Paul Brown plus deck games and activities. Executive Chef George offered a final chance to go behind the scenes and see our galley team operation.

As we make our final approach into port our Indian Chefs have some Jhalfrazi dishes on offer at Noon, with a live demonstration during lunch teaching guests their master cuisine in the Pole to Pole Restaurant.

It was during lunch when we docked in El Ferrol and once the ship had been cleared by immigration officials, passengers were able to go ashore. A number of guests opted for an organised tour from the Shore Excursion team Jacquie and Grazia and could choose from the following, ‘Santiago de Compostela’, a visit to the pilgrimage city, the free spirited,‘ Santiago On Your Own’ and a lighter  excursion ‘The Scenic Coast of Galicia’.  There was a complimentary shuttle bus service which took guests into the heart of El Ferrol.

As we prepared to set sail this evening, many guests enjoyed cocktails and dancing out on deck with the Saga Orchestra. Today’s sail away was a very special one, as we set sail from El Ferrol 18th Century Soldiers saluted Saga Sapphire from Saint Philip’s castle with gun fire (fake fire of course!)

This evening Vocalist and Comedian, Paul Fredericks performed once again to a very happy audience, taking us on a trip down memory lane with music from the 60’s and funny jokes. The evening continued with music for dancing from the Saga Orchestra whilst the Perfect Mood Duo played requests until late in the Drawing Room.
