9th September, 2015

After a day cruising the Kiel Canal with a lovely lunchtime German Beerfest courtesy of Food & Beverage Manager Julien Neagu and Executive Chef Thierry Cherronet, and a formal evening with my Farewell Cocktail Party, we arrived in Ijmuiden just before 9 o’clock this morning.

3 excursions set off for Amsterdam, two featuring the main sights of this beautiful city, followed by a Canal Cruise, and the other excursion a transfer to the city, with just a drive to the Dutch capital where our guests were left to do as they pleased for the day, before catching the same bus back to the ship. The other excursion, ‘A Taste of Holland’ took guests to a Dutch ‘windmill village’, where they witnessed some clog making, later going to the famous Dutch village of Edam where they were first invited to explore and discover Edam, then visiting the cheese factory, where local cheese is still made and of course given the opportunity to sample this delightful cheese.

We left this evening at just after 7.00pm bound for Dover. This evening in the Drawing Room Team Trivia was hosted by Cruise Staff Jay followed by Main Showtime in the Britannia Lounge. Explosive Productions then took to the stage for a show entitled ‘Come on over to My Place’, a scintillating tribute to the music of the legendary Drifters. Later in the Drawing Room, a ‘Farewell Fling’ with Colin Bryant and the Hot Rhythm Orchestra was a perfect way to end another lovely cruise.
