Casablanca, Morocco

We approached the Pilot station and, as usual, there was a very large ground swell which caused the ship to roll somewhat before we got inside the Harbour. However once in the shelter of the Breakwater, the motion eased, the pilot came to the bridge and he was happy for me to keep conning the ship to the berth.

Anyway the berth approach is quite tight but the ship did as I asked and I was able to “walk the ship” sideways towards the berth and we were all fast alongside by 0740.

Unfortunately whilst trying to connect the shore gangway, the shore authority’s forklift truck suddenly developed a puncture and there seemed to be a lack of communication and structure on the quayside, so we took the bull by the horns and rigged our own gangway initially to start getting the tours off.

There were four excursions today of which three were in the morning; first was “The Portuguese Medinas”; then “Casablanca City Tour” which was followed by “Local Flavours”.

As soon as everybody was on board, including our guests who did the overnight stay in Marrakesh, we set sail to our next port of call, Gibraltar.

Main Show Time featured a different side of Cruise Director, John Parton as he presented the life and music of George Gershwin in “An Evening of Gershwin” during which the SAGA Orchestra played some of his great compositions with Explosive Singers, Michele and Daniella Mae, singing a few of his hit songs.

Late night cabaret featured Explosive Singer, Michele Dunne followed by Perfect Mood performing favourite tunes for singing and dancing to.
