6th August, 2015

This morning we arrived in the port of Saaremaa, on the largest of Estonia’s islands, at 8 o’clock, to be surrounded by luscious green forests. It was quite a contrast from the previous buzzing metropolitan ports. A very tranquil place – ideal for our guests after their quite intensive tour programme of the last few days.

Guests gathered in the Britannia Lounge just after our arrival ready to discover this beautiful island. With trips visiting Kuressaare, the capital of the island, as well as countryside farms, castles, parks and windmills, guests were able to explore the island in all its charm. Other passengers chose to go out independently for walks (or jogs) through the forests, passing quaint log cabins on the way.

A special Chocolate Afternoon Tea in the Britannia Lounge awaited guests upon their arrival back on board, with a selection of cakes, sandwiches and scones and an irresistible chocolate fountain, with musical accompaniment from Martin Orbidans.

This evening we set sail for Riga, nearly 170 nautical miles away and shortly afterwards Classical Pianist Alex Negriuc performed once again in the Britannia Lounge, this time with a recital entitled “F. Chopin & His Favourite Pupil”. After another Team Trivia session with Cruise Staff Host Andrew, in the Britannia Lounge, the lovely Robyn North performed her second show, with more sensational singing from this superb soprano. Later, in the Drawing Room, Explosive Vocalists Tom Melling and Jack Townsend sang “Something for Everyone”, featuring music from Big Band and Swing to Musical Theatre and dance floor fillers.
