Southampton, England

After two days at sea since our departure from Lisbon, Saga Sapphire finally docked in Southampton at 8:00am this morning which marked the end of this 35 night ‘Islands of the Caribbean’ cruise. We said farewell to our passengers and the ship’s company set to work preparing for the next cruise. There are however 20 passengers who will be with us to enjoy another cruise on the Sapphire.

Embarkation began at 1:00pm with the housekeeping Department and Cruise Team on hand to welcome passengers on board. Once they had been shown to their cabins, passengers could make their way to the Britannia Lounge for a special Embarkation Afternoon Tea – just a taster of the delicious food that is in store for the upcoming 16 nights.

We commenced our Passenger Safety Drill and briefing, which is a compulsory requirement for every voyage. Shortly after this, Saga Sapphire set sail for Bergen in Norway a distance of 702 nautical miles.

Passengers were able to spend a bit more time unpacking and settling in, however it wasn’t long before it was time for the next meal. The Food and Beverage Team welcomed passengers to either our Pole to Pole or Verandah Restaurants for dinner, prepared by our Executive Chef Thierry Cherronet and his team.

After dinner, there was a variety of entertainment for passengers to enjoy. At 9:00pm, Social Hostess Nicola was Quiz Mistress in tonight’s general knowledge quiz and at 9:15pm, Cruise Director Jo Boase presented a ‘Welcome Aboard Showtime’. Jo introduced members of the ship’s staff and gave a brief orientation of the ship for those passengers who are new to Saga Sapphire. After this, our Explosive Production Singers and Dancers performed their show entitled ‘Let’s Swing’ A journey through the greatest hits, both old and modern, from legendary swing artists.

After Showtime many passengers retired to their cabins to get some rest after a very busy embarkation day. We will now spend two days at sea and are due to arrive in Bergen on 27th February.
