Around Britain day five

Saga Sapphire blog - Captains' blogs

2nd September, 2012

Once again Saga Sapphire awoke to a beautiful morning bathed in glorious sunshine. We had come around Lands' End and were making for Falmouth. I had an hour where I could leave the bridge, so I had agreed with John Parton, the Cruise Director, that I would do an 'Audience with the Captain'. Hosted by our Cruise Director John, passengers took part in a question and answer session. Lasting a solid forty five minutes, it covered a number of topics from my background right through to those typical nautical queries.

After this there was a chance to test your ability to pick a lie in John’s True or False quiz. Accompanied by our resident Cocktail pianist Martin Orbidans, guests spent a hilarious 45 minutes picking the truth from the fiction.

We continued east, passing Eddystone Light House, at 0.5 miles and then continued along the coast towards Dover. For keen crafters there was Fernando’s daily decoupage class. Part of a running series that culminated in today’s class, all those who participated achieved some wonderful results. Or for those with a sweet-tooth, there was our wonderful 'Chocolate Afternoon Tea' in the Britannia Lounge.

The final evening saw the last chance to enjoy some to phenomenal on board talent. In the main lounge, there was Explosive Productions with a tribute to the American Songbook, with their ‘Let’s Swing’ show. Or alternatively there was bit of opera, mixed in with a bit of musical theatre, as our Assistant Cruise Director Ed took to the stage with his one man show. For those night owls there was music with our duo Perfect Mood to well past the witching hour.
