La Coruna

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

13th February, 2019

Do you know what – I cannot believe the weather here in La Coruna today – sunny and clear blue skies and tow cracking seadays heading north. We docked today just before 9pm and what a beautiful day here in La Coruna, situated on the north west tip of Spain at the bottom of the Bay of Biscay. We had 2 fun filled seadays heading north and we also had a chance to welcome our Newcomers with a cocktail party! With Chris Hamilton on the Keys and our Cast of singers and dancers we were entertained to the max!! On the 2nd Seaday we did our Captain Nick’s Fish and Chip shop and the fish was cooked wonderfully!!

Fun filled La Coruna proved very popular with the guests today and everybody had a fab time! 5:30pm and we were departing our berth and then shortly before 6pm we had dropped off our pilot and heading north. Tonight is our Farewell Cocktail Party and formal dinner and it is going to be great!

Well Ladies and Gents this is my last blog from the Saga Pearl II. I disembark in Portsmouth and handover to Captain Kim who is doing the Final Farewell Cruise to South Africa. It has been a privilege to be Captain here for nearly 4 years and I have some great memories. Time to move across to our new ship the ‘Spirit of Discovery’ where I will be working with the team in the shipyard in the coming months and then take command on the 23rd July until mid-September – I am really looking forward to the new challenges and hope to see you all there on our new ship!

See you soon and best wishes to the Captain and Crew for the Farewell cruise of the very special Saga Pearl II
