Dover

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

12th July, 2018

Thank you to our Staff Captain Simon for some great blogging last cruise. My turn this cruise and then we will have a secret guest blogger next cruise, so watch this space!!

Dover today is looking nice weather wise with an unusual north easterly wind here in the harbour. The predominant wind in this micro-climate is south westerly wind and this is what the ferries are used to. A great cruise last week to Norway, really enjoyed that and the crew are all geared up for our exploration cruise now to Iceland, via the Orkneys and Shetlands and back via Ireland.

My senior team this cruise are Staff Captain Simon, Chief Engineer Mark, Hotel Director Dawn and Cruise Director Kayleigh. With all the stores loaded and the ship fuelled up it was time to do our Passenger Emergency drill at 3:30pm and with this complete time to leave port. We quickly turned the vessel around in the harbour and proceeded out of the western entrance and then made good headings for the North Sea to make our way up to our first port of call Kirkwall, with a sea day tomorrow.

Come on Iceland – we need no rain and no wind, just sunshine!!
