Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

We were at one of my favourite ports in Norway today. Andalsnes is so quaint and pretty and a really unspoilt piece of Norwegian beauty. Early pilot this morning at 3am and we were alongside, with not a breath of wind, at 8am. Docked in this beautiful fjord with snow-capped mountains and sunshine really does make you feel privileged and we certainly have been spoiled today.
The Rauma Railway is the key attraction in this port and many of our guests in their Red Jackets (The Red Army!!! LOL) had this tour today. There was also an opportunity to catch the scenic tour on a bus around this amazing fjord area. Many guests actually explored on foot themselves and really enjoyed it.
After a busy day it was time to leave at 4:30pm, everyone onboard and we backed the mighty Saga Pearl II out of the port and made our way out of the Fjord. Maybe there is a chance of seeing the Northern Lights – we will wait and see.
Seaday tomorrow and lots of fantastic events planned including the famous “Crossing the Arctic Circle Ceremony” – sounds fun!!
