Portsmouth

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

14th February, 2018

Well Captain Sunderland is back, and it’s great to be in the hot seat once again. Wishing Captain Tanner a well-earned vacation!!!

Here we are in Portsmouth, our new turnaround port. Today is a little windy and rainy but hopefully we are going to less rainy climates – colder but snowy – with our Bright Lights of Norway cruise. I see many excited guests embarking our fine vessel, ready with the ski’s, bobble hats & tennis rackets for snow shoes!!!

A busy day for us in Portsmouth with fuel loading, stores loading and of course embarkation of our guests. My senior team this cruise is Staff Captain Simon (back fresh from leave), Chief Engineer Mark, Hotel Director Dawn (back kinda fresh from leave, LOL) and Cruise Director Jemma. We conducted our Passenger emergency drill at 5:30pm and then at 6pm we were undocked and departed the harbour of Portsmouth, aiming to drop the pilot off at the Nab tower.

With the pilot away we’re ready to start our journey up to our first port of call - Bergen in Norway with 2 seadays in between.

Full steam ahead, and all the great seaday activities……….
