Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs
23rd December, 2018
Well after a lovely sunny seaday down along the North African Coast it is time to arrive in Gran Canaria. A fun filled seaday with entertainment including our Newcomers Cocktail party and the Explosive productions West end to Broadway – fantastic show.
We embarked our pilot at 6pm, after the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship was clear and we slid alongside to our berth ready for our overnight stay. This morning before we arrived we also did our Grand Saga Pearl II Christmas Cake off, where our Hotel Director Dawn won (to be honest my reindeer was the best) with her Snowman cake – mmmmmm yummy!! Was great fun anyway and the guests really enjoyed it.
After a quiet night on board it is time to do some exploring on Christmas Eve here in Gran Canaria and there is lots to do and the shops are still open!! Bit windy today but never windy in a shopping centre. I took a walk to the beach with my mum who is onboard for this Christmas Cruise and we had a Starbucks on the beachfront – very touristy.
After a full day here till 9pm the Saga Pearl II departed our berth with the assistance of a tug as it was still a bit windy and then we would proceed to Tenerife where we dock on Christmas Day afternoon. Maria Lyn my favourite singer tonight – cannot wait!
Tomorrow is Christmas Day and Santa will hopefully visit tonight – will he come down the funnel or land his sleigh on deck – let’s wait and find out…
