A journey through Canadian clouds

The Rocky Mountaineer train

The world-famous Rocky Mountaineer provides a luxurious journey through the spectacular, and otherwise inaccessible, Canadian Rockies. At each station, the team will wave you off as you head on to the next leg of your adventure where you may be lucky to spot grizzly bears, moose and bald eagles in the wilderness. As standard you’ll travel by SilverLeaf service in a single-level glass domed coach with oversized windows, allowing you to enjoy the great scenery as hot entrees are served at your seat. There is the option to upgrade to GoldLeaf service for a supplement, which provides unparalleled views from the upper level of the bi-level dome coach with wrap-around windows.

Recounting the days of the Raj by rail

Explore India's historic railways

One of the most exhilarating ways to explore India is by using the country’s historic railways. You’ll be able to cover longer distances quicker, and in more comfort than most bus journeys, plus enjoy the contrasting scenery of the bustling towns and quieter rural villages. We’ve reserved seats for you in first class, but you’ll still be able to experience the hustle and bustle of everyday life in India.

The Palace on Wheels

The Palace on Wheels train

Launched in 1982, the train is inspired by royal carriages of kings and rulers of the bygone era in India. Dine in either of two beautifully decorated restaurants, the Maharaja and the Maharani, with the kitchen serving freshly-prepared international and Indian cuisine. Each train car has a personal attendant, known as khitmatgars, who are on-hand to assist you throughout your journey. As you journey from Jaipur to Agra, admire the passing scenery of the land of sand dunes and regal palaces from the large panoramic windows.

A little luxury in Africa

The Rovos Rail train

The vintage Rovos Rail is one of the more stylish ways to see Africa’s incredible landscape. Reminiscent of the bygone era of luxury rail travel, many have likened the journey to that of the Orient Express – just with African wildlife added into the mix! You’ll be able to relax in the spacious observation carriages as the scenery slips by, and savour delicious cuisine with a glass of South African wine in the dining carriages.

Shongololo – Good Hope Train

Shongololo’s Good Hope train

Experience South Africa from a different perspective as you travel aboard Shongololo’s Good Hope train, crossing the country from east to west. Look forward to dining in the period-style dining cars, enjoying a choice of cuisine and South African wines, relaxing in the bar car or modest smoking lounge, or watching the country pass by from the observation car and balcony.

Japan’s Thunderbird Express

Experience a slice of Japanese life and travel to Kyoto by JR West’s Limited Express Thunderbird. You won’t need to worry about your bags as we will take them by truck to your hotel in Kyoto, so you can enjoy the journey and watch life on the train unimpeded. See Japan’s beautiful scenery, pretty suburbs and vibrant cities as you enjoy a relaxing and fascinating journey.

Trans-Siberian Railway Adventure

The Trans-Siberian Railway train

Enjoy a sense of camaraderie as you mingle with fellow travellers and locals going about their daily lives during this tour following the epic Trans-Siberian Railway. You’ll travel aboard six local trains which are practical in nature and may differ in age and quality. You can purchase meals from the dining car or do as the Russians do and take your own food. Each carriage has nine compartments, two WC’s and two electrical outlets for shared use which encourages a very social atmosphere.

Journey aboard the Bernina Express

The Bernina Express train

One of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps, the Bernina Express winds through splendid scenery on its way from Davos to Tirano. The train negotiates 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and steep inclines with ease. Travelling 2,253 metres above sea level, the Bernina Express climbs to the highest parts of the Alps reachable by train, before descending to the palms of Italy far below. One of the highlights is the panoramic journey along the Bernina line of the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway, an engineering marvel that has stood the test of time.
