Bergen’s historic waterfront, UNESCO-listed Bryggen, is graced by colourful gabled buildings that hark back to its days as a member of the Hanseatic League. The Hanseatic Museum, housed in one of the old warehouses, features antique furnishings for an insight into merchant life. The wharf neighbours Bergen’s old town of characterful 17th to 18th-century wooden houses that adorn cobbled lanes and attractive squares.

An included panoramic excursion reveals one of the oldest buildings still standing, 12th-century St Mary’s Church.

Scenic Cruising, Geirangerfjord
This chocolate-box village is set at the head of the majestic Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You don’t have to go far to experience Norway’s wild beauty though – a waterfall walk near the centre of Geiranger leads up 327 steps alongside the roaring cascades of Storfossen waterfall. Departing Geiranger Spirit of Discovery will cruise Geirangerfjord, passing the Seven Sisters Waterfall along the way.

Its charm lies in Old Stavanger where cobbled lanes weave past white-painted wooden cottages and boutique shops stocked with local handicrafts.
