Pasajes

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

12th April, 2018

I have been to Pasajes one time before and you do forget that it is quite a narrow entrance. We made a nice approach and navigated our way through the narrows and approached the berth. We turned on arrival and backed down to our berth to go port side alongside. Unfortunately there was a ‘sprinkle’ of rain and both myself and the Staff Captain became drenched. I hoped it would be an isolated shower!!!

Pasajes has a big fishing community and we could see all the fishing boats leaving this morning so a) the weather must be good outside and b) there were lots of fish!!

Tours and our shuttle buses were popular today with the La Rhune and St Jean de Luz, Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum, Scenic San Sebastian and Hondarribia. However, as I am going home soon, today was a great opportunity for me to ‘tie up some loose ends’ and finish projects ahead of time for my handover.

With all aboard our guests were prompted to be outside to see the sailaway through the narrows. We have some great photos, hope you enjoy them. With the pilot away it was time for our Britannia Club Party and then showtime with our cast in ‘The Big Swing Thing’.

Next stop Aviles tomorrow……….
