We want your first cruise with us to exceed all your expectations
Cruising is the ultimate way to go travelling in luxury.
As all Saga cruises depart from the UK, you only need to unpack once, relax and let the destinations come to you.

With Saga we include so much within the price that you don’t need to worry about all the extras that you may expect to pay with others.
That is what makes the Saga price fantastic value.
Our prices include:
- A door-to-door chauffeur service, or alternative travel or parking arrangements
- Optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights, or a discount if not required
- All on-board gratuities and service charges
- Tourist visas
- Chef-prepared breakfasts, lunches, dinners, buffet meals and snacks
- 24 hour room service
- Live music and performances from guest entertainers
Plus much more
With a fifth of our guests travelling solo, we pride ourselves on our exceptionally friendly welcome and thoughtful service, every step of the way.
You’ll find that our smaller, friendlier ships have a really sociable atmosphere, so you won’t feel lost in a crowd.
It’s easy to find your way around too – though if you’re ever in doubt, you’ll find our charming crew are always eager to help out.
We organise a special cocktail party where you can meet other independent travellers, and arrange get-togethers before each port for those who’d like to go ashore with some companions.
Dance hosts ensure that you can dance the night away.
We offer lots of single cabins across many cabin styles, giving you plenty of choice.
It’s the number one question we hear from first-time guests...
More customers contact us asking about what they should pack for a cruise than any other question.
So to lend a helping hand, we've created a guide to packing for your cruise...
Relax on board
For a relaxed time spent at the bar or when chatting to friends, light-weight trousers and a smart top make for the perfect combination.
And ladies, to set off your outfit why not try a scarf or a little jewellery to add that extra zing?
Dress for dinner
If you’re off to dinner choose a stylish dress and smart jacket or cardigan.
For the gentleman, chinos and a smart short-sleeved shirt and jacket are just the ticket.
The height of glamour
Most, but not all, Saga cruises feature a couple of formal nights where it is impossible to overdress!
A glamorous long dress and sequined shrug or pashmina are perfect partners for an elegant champagne dinner.
And a tuxedo and bow-tie are the ultimate in sophistication (although a dark suit or dinner jacket would also be just fine!).
Of course, every cruise varies a little. The weather, destinations and themes all mean there are no hard and fast rules regarding dress code – except one:
Wear a big smile and everything else will be plain sailing!
The main attraction of a cruise is that you get the opportunity to see a wonderful array of destinations and you only have to unpack once.
After an organised excursion or a day’s independent exploration, you can return to the comfort of your ship ready for the evening’s entertainment.
Our optional shore excursions are carefully planned to show you the key attractions of the areas you visit.
From outstanding natural wonders and historic cities to ancient ruins and beautiful gardens, the trips are designed to suit a variety of tastes.
We endeavour to combine active excursions such as trekking, with less strenuous museum visits or city tours, and at most ports we also include a panoramic coach tour so you can see the sights while you sit back and relax.
By letting us take care of the details, you won’t have the worry of arranging your own transport or exploring without a guide.
Excursions may be half a day, a full day or an evening, and are always led by an experienced English-speaking guide who will provide background and historical information to enhance your visit; a Saga representative will also accompany you on the coach.
We include transport on all trips (other than some walking tours) and many full-day excursions include lunch at local restaurants, giving you the opportunity to sample the regional cuisine.
We work hard to ensure that all Saga shore excursions offer you value for money.
Choosing your excursions
We will send you a comprehensive Shore Excursion Booklet a few weeks before you sail, so you can read about the excursions available during your cruise and have the opportunity to book them before you embark.
To help you choose the most suitable excursions, we give each one a brief description and a walking grade based on the amount of walking, steps or type of terrain involved.
If you have any queries concerning excursions while on board, you can ask our helpful staff at the Tours and Travel Desk, who will be on hand throughout your cruise.
Please note: Any excursions mentioned on this website are optional, at an additional cost and subject to availability and change.
If you would prefer to explore on your own you could take advantage of our free shuttle bus service from the ship to the town or city centre, which is available at most ports (local regulations allowing) when the distance between the two is over 500 yards.
Alternatively, the Tours and Travel team can arrange a bespoke private car service (at additional cost), at many ports of call.
Days at sea are a chance to explore your new home away from home, allowing you to be as active or relaxed as you wish, whilst meeting new friends along the way.
Relax on board with everything provided:
- Swimming and spa sessions
- Musical entertainment
Experienced instructors run regular yoga and Pilates classes in addition to the well equipped gym.
There is also a range of on deck activities including crazy golf on Saga Sapphire and short tennis on Saga Pearl II.
You will find comfortable public rooms and convivial bars, where the barman soon remembers your favourite tipple.
Our on-board prices are reassuringly low so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about the bar bill.
Our library provides the perfect excuse to relax with a good book, cup of tea and a slice of fresh cake - whilst the waves pass by. Why not borrow a DVD from the library and relax in the comfort of your cabin.
Indulge in one of your interests or discover a new hobby with stimulating talks and presentations from guest speakers. Themes range from marine wildlife and gardening to jazz concerts and cabaret – and everything in between.
