Another beautiful day in the Canary Islands region!
We picked our pilot up at 7am this morning and we turned on arrival by the Aida Nova and backed up to our berth going port side alongside. With our lines tight and gangway out at 8am many keen guests going ashore on tour or enjoying the sunshine.
Today is a very special day as we are taking our 15 diamond members ashore for a Gala Lunch in a local recently refurbished Castle. We started our lunch with meeting in the South Cape Bar at 1215 for a cocktail (Diet coke for me of course!) and then we hopped onto our bus for a short ride to the local Castle overlooking the harbour. We were greeted by the Spanish version of the 3 Tenors enchanting us with their wonderful voices. Canapés and Champagne being served – very nice. Then we sat down for our lunch with the harbour in the background and our new ship in the distance with the yellow funnel – a great site. All in all a wonderful lunch with friends.
4:30pm and time to leave for Lisbon. With the sun out and not a cloud in the sky it was the perfect way to finish our Canary Islands experience and then to proceed north to the capital of Portugal – Lisbon.
