Spirit of Discovery blog
Southampton
Well hello fellow Saganauts – Captain Nick is back and ready to rock and roll after 2 great months of vacation. Captain Horne goes on a well-earned vacation today so we wish him good luck in his building activities at home!!
The sun is out and the wind is light here in Southampton, a little chilly but we are venturing to warmer climates this cruise – suitably named the Roman Italy & Sardinia Cruise. Really looking forward to this as the Italian coast is always beautiful with lots of great sites and many things to see and enjoy.
My senior team this cruise is Staff Captain Matt, Chief Engineer Dave, Hotel General Manager Ivar and Cruise Director Andy.
We finished refuelling the ship, loading our stores and no time to waste as we are straight into doing our mandatory Passenger Emergency Drill. Just after 6:30pm we departed our City Terminal Berth, spun around and ready to make courses to leave Southampton behind us. Weather is looking good for our transit down to Malaga, we will go full speed at the beginning to get ahead of a low pressure so the mighty Spirit of Discovery will fly along and do her thing.
Full steam ahead to Malaga… See you soon…
